Cricket will have a void
by S Michael Ponnudurai on Dec 21, 2006 01:32 PM

He is the greatest spinner in the world. One who does not need pitches' help, team managements protection from on field controversies etc.

There may be bowlers who could overtake him in terms of number of wickets, but he would ever be the most clean (on field) and successful spinner in the world among the contemporaries and those who have already retired

May we wish him all the joy and happiness in his future

Australia should bring up Brad Hogg who is a left arm version of Warne and he could trouble most batsmen. Stuart McGill and players like Nathan Hauritz, Cameron White and Dan Cullen could be trained to shoulder responsibilities in future

Good Bye Warne..We will Miss U...
by Aditya Kulkarni on Dec 21, 2006 01:07 PM

Man he is AMAZING cricketer. AWESOME LEGSPINNER. Wonderful & MARVELOUS bowler. Warne was really Hollywood in his own style.

I remember in the mid 90's this guy, wearing his oaklets & use to bowl. Myself got so impressed not only with this bowling but also with his attitude. With Ian Healy shouting 'BOWLING SHAANEE' it was an amazing site to watch. Specially when he use to get royally screwed by Sachin ;-)

I would call him the cherry charmer. The ball use to be turned by him like anything.

No doubt his life has seen dark side & scandals. Drugs, Girls everything. But 4 me that does not really matter.

NONE THE LESS WARNY WE WILL MISS U.

Cricket fans urge him to retire after the World Cup-2007
by vikram bhatia on Dec 21, 2006 12:31 PM

Oh, Shane warne has been a splended gift to the Cricket world from Australia. Here was a leg spin googly bowler who has given a new meaning to the art of spin bowling. He showed to the world what charishma spin bowlers can do by foxing the best of batsman with his 'wrong one, 'the flipper'and the googly, and in the process taking close to 700 wickets leading the bowlers pack in front. Some of his deliveries spun anything around 2 to 4 feet and were breathtaking to watch from spectators point of view as were the batsmen who watched helplessly while the bowl often took their middle or leg stump. As a diehard cricket fan and a lover of good spin bowling, we only urge Warne for the sake of fans, he should play uptill the next World Cup-2007 only a few months away and then retire. However, the world of spin bowling and cricket will miss you Warne. Our hats off to you for magnificent showing. And may you continue to coach other buddging cricketers willing to learn the art of spin bowling around the world. VIKRAM BHATIA, LAJPAT NGR.N.DELHI-24

Warne - Spoiled a sensation
by Mahesh on Dec 21, 2006 12:21 PM

OK, He's a great player, everyone'll accept that in terms of crowd pulling. But he spoiled a sensation named
Stuart Macgill. If they allow to play Staurt as same as Warne. He might lead the wicket takers list. If anyone has the doubt, check the stats. When warne with Staurt he was not near of stuart. aleast now we can see a minium of stuart. Thank god, down the glamour.

Hats off to Shane!
by andrew on Dec 21, 2006 12:12 PM

Shane Warne will be remembered as one of the greatest in the game of cricket. His contribution to world cricket has been phenomenal. For 14 years he has been a dominant spin bowler for the mighty Australians. A proven match-winner, world cricket will definitely miss him. But as all good things must come to an end, Warne's great innings also has to come to a close. Hats off to the leading wicket taker in Test cricket.
