Ganguly's Omission
by Varadarajan R on Oct 28, 2005 10:23 PM

Ganguly is no doubt one of the best batsmen India has produced.
There is no doubt about his batting performance, especially in Indian condition in which fast bowlers cannot easily produce good bouncers to disturb Ganguly.
But the problem is the requirement of atheletism expected in the present day one-day matches.

By the way now-a-days we are hearing from Rahul that the advices of Sachin are being implemented. It is also visible especially when Indians are fielding. We can very often witness Sachin walking to the bowlers and giving advices.
This was missing during Ganguly days because Ganguly was always keeping Sachin near the boundary line (Deep point or Deep cover or deep mid wicket) from where Sachin would have little possibility to communicate with the bowlers.
Please note that I am only sharing my observation. Ganguly might have had some positive reasons to do so. After all no body can deny that Ganguly is India's most successful captain.. so far.

The rites have been done, but have been done in an unethical manner. The team has perofrmed brilliantly?????whose team was this???? Chappell's or Dravid's. It was Ganguly's. No matter he is captain or not, if someone whom Dravid or Chappel unearths performs like a lion, then say no to Sourav. Dravid is leading a team developed by someone. He had a disastrous 16 one -day match streak at 12.16 avg. ganguly called him the batsman he always looks upto and result was dravid continues. Sehwag averages in 30 and performs like a wreck, but he too is persisted. Tendulkar is back on homesoil and an out of sorts opposition. Then why not give Sourav every opportunity to redeem his form. Chappel is destroying Sourav's career and Dravid is a puppet who cannot say anything. But, mark these words soon will the time come when Dravid and Chappel will be fools once again. Good luck India, but, cricket is not in safe hands.....

So ridiculous!!

It's not just the politics in the BCCI but also the ridiculous comments and demands from people kill cricket in India. I am no against soruce ganguly but his inclusion would have certainly caused imbalance in the team.

Whatever decision selection team has taken is really laudable and bold.

Please stop this crap regional bias comments and let team perform at their best. I know there are problems there is politics but let's try our best and support good decisions. Cricket in India is not a government job where you can stick to it even if you are not performing. Perform or go out that should be policy and that will be applicable for everyone whether it's sourav or sachin. Stop unnecessary cry!

Exclusion of Sourav Ganguly
by Sudipta Ganguly on Oct 28, 2005 10:05 PM  | Hide replies

Its really unfair with a player who has given India most sucess than any other.
I want to know the same thing should happen to Sachin Tendulkar if he is supposed to return to the Squad and Selection Comitee decided not to change the winning combintaion.
I still remember exactly i don't remember the year, but its an India West Indies Series and in 10 matches consecutive matches Sachin has not scored more than 10 Runs and in 5 Consecutive Matches is has scored 0, still he was in the Team. I want to know at that time where was the Selection Comitee.
Or this has been done as Sourav is Bengali. The same thing has never happened with a Player from Mumbai and South.

Politics galore!

Shows the sorry state of affairs in Indian Cricket. They can't even name a single team for 7 matches and have to go thru the selection process THRICE! Unbelievable. Just shows how much clout the parties have.
