BCCI elections!
by DR.SUDARSHAN RAY on Nov 29, 2005 09:54 PM

We at Kolkata certainly congratulate Mr. Sharad Pawar on winning this higher-than-expected-voltage board election.Mr. Pawar is an able administrator with a proven track record though in the general field. We hope he takes steps to at least slow down the over-commercialisation of BCCI which during the past few years has been able to rake in immense profit and was actually seen more as a money-spinning machine than a cricket administrative body. The over-commercialisation was the black hand behind the undesirable drama putting even general elections to shame.Everyone who wants to make quick money, wants to be in BCCI rather than in the Indian Stock Market. We do hope however Mr.Pawar being the seasoned politician and administrator that he is, is able to control the loose-cannons in BCCI, like Raj Singh Dungarpur,Lalit Modi et al.and also ensure that those player(s) who were "labelled" pro-Dalmia by the media mainly are not victimised in the future.

He should cocerntrate more on 2007 world cup. Try to reduce internal politics between players and players interst on other external activities. Should encourage younger generation.

Election of Sharad Pawar
by Jaya Prakash on Nov 29, 2005 08:36 PM

Sharad Pawar should use the massive fund and revenues of BCCI to improve sports infrastructure (not only Cricket) in rural areas of the Country. The players and officials in the game of cricket should transform the game of cricket from game of income or lonely game to the responsible game to other respectable games of India.

With Dalmiya out of power, We expect few good things for cricket under able Leadership of Pawar Saheb....Afterlosing last election due to technical reasons Pawar had said it was just the beginning and he would see it next time....He made his words true....All must agree that He is a shrewd politician and best Leader at present

Sharad Pawar's election as BCCI President
by Anil Jadhav on Nov 29, 2005 07:39 PM

From Kabaddi to Cricket, Sharad Pawar has made a big leap forward in the field of sports. He is a great administrator, has tremendous vision and even at this ripe age, dynamic even to guide the destiny of Indian cricket. The Maharashtrians know his acumen as a sports organiser and administrator. His rich experience will definitely bring in new hope in the affairs of BCCI. Congrants to Pawar.
