It is a nice feeling that Mr. Pawar has been elected the president of BCCI. Positively great times are ahead for the cricket in India.

Politicians and BCCI
by Ardamun Ramdeva on Nov 29, 2005 06:54 PM

What these politicians have done to the country, is what they now will be doing to Indian Cricket. Don't these politicians have enough on their plates to hanker for more? They are elected to improve the lot of their constituencies. Once elected all they are interested inis consolidating their power bases and firming up their bank accounts.

If Mr. Pawar is so interested in improving the lot of sports in the country, why not other sports that do not generate any revenue? Do I need to answer this?

Factually Dalmiya has done a lot for Cricket in general, and Indian cricket in particular.I dont know the stae of affairs in other Cricket Boards world over, but Dalmiya did become dynastic(not necessarily own family)but cronies. But we all hope that Pawar doesnot get lost in the corridors of BCCI,but really opens new doors. But hopefully he doesnot bend over backwards or forwards to undo what has been good in general, being from a political bend of mind and activity, where any new leader just reverses actions of his predecessor.Like in KBC where we find competitors from unknown villages taking part, let also some future cricketers come from similar places, but on their merits ofcourse. He should form a separate Talent Hunt project with the help of district and village based sports bodies. Congratulations anyway.

Great news

Finally the cricket body has got rid of the man who was running the same as his own business empire. Now we can hope to see the end of politics involved in selections & other things in the board.

Kiran More should also go so that we can have a transparent selection based on merits & performance rather then personal likings.
