Chappel methodology may work for india
by purnendu on Nov 09, 2005 09:10 AM

One thing that most of us do agree that Indian cricket is going through a bad phase (or is it over?) and we still need to prove beyond our shores, To be a succesful side just focussing on the 2007 world cup is enough , we need to win most of our matches across the year. However, we should give at least a year or so to chappel. Let's see if its working consistently or not.At least the man looks committed and is his impartially is beyond doubt. We never had such a strong coach in recent time, and he reminds me of football coach, who are much more accountable to the team's success than in the cricket.

Best Regards
Purnendu

Will Ganguly return?
by Sridhar on Nov 09, 2005 08:25 AM

Nice article in that people like me get an opportunity to know about Chapell's character irrespective of how good a batsman he was. Remember not all the good players can become a good coach. It's totally a different ball game. Now, coming to Ganguly's exclusion, he certainly doesn't deserve such an exit from international cricket eventhough personally I am not a big fan of Ganguly. He is one of the good bastman eventhough not the best. I think he has some time around to assert his skills in batting and improve his fielding skills as well. If he comes back with all cylinders fired up, I mean the best of the best, he definitely should deserve a place atleast not as captain.

Galguly's Exclusion
by Yeshwant Nayak on Nov 09, 2005 08:04 AM

Ganguly's exclusion from the team and Chappel's mail to the cricket management board must be treated as two mutually exclusive events. As a responsible coach, Chappel has given all possible chance to Ganguly to groom his batting line up and contribution to the team.

Every batsman goes through the phase what Ganguly is currently going through. There is nothing wrong in giving chance to the new comers who are performing exceptionally well in the domestic version of the game.

The media has given a different picture to the decisions that are being taken as a responsible coach. I think, as a responsible individuals we must understand the initiatives that Chappel has taken to groom the TEAM INDIA to win the World cup 07.

Dear Rakesh
Quote - We Tamilians have no star to show for in decades yet we cheer every run that others make. - Endquote

Are you doing a favour? I don't live in India and yet support the Indian team - is that a favour? Get out of this narrow minded parochialism and put the nation first!

Regards
Ravi

Gangulys talent
by Rakesh Narayan on Nov 09, 2005 07:44 AM

Well , arijit, I guess the selectors are smarter than you to select the right people for the right job. This whole personal vendetta thingie is overcooked. Man if he scored runs against top sides nobody would throw him out. If he is eating away a spot based on past laurels then its too much. I bet if Sachin had failed to perform this series injury or not, being one of his biggest fans Id advise him to go to local cricket and work on his batting. Frankly stars hardly count. If somebody can have a team that wins every time without the stars most reu India fans would be happy. Think India man... We Tamilians have no star to show for in decades yet we cheer every run that others make. Digest facts.

ganguly, chappel
by bose on Nov 09, 2005 07:34 AM

Any cricketer doesnt matter how big he is on the indian stage should be kept out from the team if he is not performing. The selectors i think have done a good job by stopping all petty politics after along time.
people should think realistically and should not support a player because he represents their state or race.Try to be a true indian.
A player is bound to be kicked out of the team if he has under performed for 2years(refer the statistics).
