stop critisizing sachin
by santosh on Apr 09, 2005 11:15 AM

Hi,
What r we doing???we are critisizing sachin ramesh tendulkar for losing his appetite and hunger for runs, we are telling that he is a mere passenger in the current team.for all my money he is stiil the best batsman of the team ..notwithstanding the fact that sehwag is in atremendous form and dravid is also playing well ..but if we can expect one single player to score runs with minimal risks it is sachin.Sehwag plays his shots gfrom the word go and can get out anttinme ..dravid is steady but the man with all geras is sachin ,,,so stop maikng remarks about gr8 pllayer and support him.

We tend to forget cricket is a team sport. Thanks for reminding it.

Even a player like Srinath, who had such great quality as a bowler, struggled to get into the team when he was young and raring to go because another demi-god at that time was playing to get his "tally" of wickets the highest. Srinath seems to have forgotten that over years, but hailing from the same town as Srinath I still remember being frustrated when a young talent like him was being denied its due.

As you have pointed out we move from one demi-god to another. In the process we forget some genuine team players like Anil and Dravid winning matches for their teams. We forget younger talents like Kaif who would do anything for the team given a chance. But we are very eager for our current demi-god to break one more personal record and score that 35th century.

Srinath, what use are those 10K runs if it does not
- can not finish 13 more runs to win the test match against pak?
- answer the Gilchrist/Ponting in the finals?
- value as much as Karman Akmal's?
- answer Afridi's 50?

Demi-gods are not gods. It is OK to criticize them. Especialy when there is a pattern of this.

Ganguly definitely looks totally lost. Its time we replace him with Dravid.
Secondly, I still think we can provide Laxman with another chance in Test Matches.
Amit Mishra is a good idea. We can consider him for tests.
Dinesh Karthik needs to be persisted with for another series.

Srinath's Column

Well Srinath I don't blame you.
Indians as u know very well sometimes over react.
But, as said by you, its time for some retrospection. Let us take the case of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin crossed 10K runs in test cricket, and has a huge amount of experience. I think even a tail ender knows that when pressure is applied by the opposition, in terms of having 7 fielders just round the bat, it only takes one good and calculated shot, to disperse them and releive the pressure. Any one with even a little bit of cricket acumen, would have felt it while watching the match. But, by defending dourly, not only did he allow the Pakis to apply continuous pressure, he also put the batsman at the other end into pressure. If Sachin would have rotated the strike, the batsman at the other end too would have had less pressure. I feel the turning point on the last day was Sachin's attitude. A few good shots by him, would have created doubts in Inzi's mind as he knows that Sachin was a player who could take the match away. By batting like a novice, he brought about the down fall of players like Laxman, Karthik, who otherwise would have played their natural game.Lax was cautioned by him when he hit a 4.

We have many Pathans in Pakistan
by Srinivas on Mar 31, 2005 01:03 AM

Hi guys, r'ber what Miandad had said when India was touring Pakistan the last time round? Yes, ur rite, the title of this message repeats it. On that occasion though the Paki batsman could not quite handle a raw Pathan. That wouldn't happen again. Irrespective of whether they handled the other bowlers well or not, and irrespective of whether their batsman scored runs or not, they made sure they mastered Pathan. And our think-tank could not see this happening all through. The 1 question I beg: Why was Nehra not played at all? He has been the most consistent bowler on the domestic circuit. He has taken more wickets than Pathan, Balaji and Zaheer. Then why is Pathan getting the nod ahead of him... something fishy! Yeah, that's the team's think-tank!

Why are you so worried?
by krishna on Mar 30, 2005 09:44 PM

Dear Srinath,
I think there should be a bit insensitive for such a cricket. Why ccreate hue and cry. I hope you agree with me that cr icketers must not be pressurised by baying for his blood.
Since, you were playing with most of the present players. You will agree with me that all the players are good and have good heart.
I think we need to be patient. Sport is sport, why creating a hue and cry. Well according to BCCI, this team is not that of India, they are team of BCCI!!! Why creating such a reaction?

Srinivas,
What reason do you say for giving him a second chance.Do you think only for the reason he studied in St'Anns Nidadavole.

U R WRONG SRINATH
by arvind algundi on Mar 30, 2005 06:46 PM

hey srinath,
ur view abt sachin is wrong man.ya some body told like since u r their x-colleague u r playing it safe.
we never saw any magical innings from sachin in any test till now.i am a big fan of sachin but he always disapoointed me. he is just playing for his own perssnel records which every one knows.i want him to win or save a test match single handedly before he retires.otherwise not a single innings from him will be included in the histroy of gr8 innings though he scored more then 10000 runs.sorry to say this but it's fact.he dnt have a killer instinct in him becoz he had never been in those crunch situations...
i am really disappointed by india's poor show in Bang'r..
