the so called prince of kolkatta

the Prince of Kolkatta is now becoming a 'bheegi billi' of kolkatta... its high time now that the selectors shud open their eyes to see and remove these NPA's (non performing assets). you cant keep someone in the team who has performed well in the team 5-6 years ago... Anil Kumble had better avg in this series as compared to ganguly. As far as i remember i have not seen a Captains Knock from Ganguly as compared to anyother teams captain. Even Tatenda Taibu performs better than Ganguly.

There is nothing wrong to step down from captaincy as you are doing for the betterment of the Indian cricket. Even players like Glen mcgrath and matthew Hayden and Steve Waugh were warned to be removed due to poor performance.. These greats avg better in a poor form as compared to ganguly avg.. Lastly, if Ganguly is reading this mail... pls show some responsibility towards ur team by stepping down from captaincy.... We Indians Would be Thanful to YOU.

Hi,

Your comparisions are way too much. The players you mentioned(Aussies) dont average better than Ganguly on their poor days. You are taking away credit from A GOOD CAPTAIN. WHY IS THAT ALL iNDIANS ARE OBSESSED WITH COMPARING OUR PLAYERS WITH AUSSIES?
It would do a world of good to remember our bearings and continously support TEAM INDIA.

Dr.Vishnu,

hopeless team
by swarup on Mar 30, 2005 01:33 PM

This Indian team is one of the hopeless team in the world with no planning and startegies with them. And i tell u, one day the current zimbabian side will also beat these bull shit guys all around the park. This is like a unpredictable show..It seems like the match was fix..hope so it was..coz these guys are playing for money not for country. And that one monkey in the team...Ganguly...will be kicked off like he will never come in the team. And mind u the result of the one dayers will be (Pak 6- india 0).

First time I agree with Prem
by yasho on Mar 30, 2005 12:56 PM  | Hide replies

This is the first time I feel Prem has been right in his analysis. I want to ask "the" question to Ganguly( of whom I am a staunch supporter)who is responsible for defensive attitude. He or Coach?
I will not agree that the batsmen went on their own.
I found 3 wrongs in his Leadership. No.1 he doesnt confer to senior members of team on the field. No2 he doesnt let the bowler decide his field. No3 when Pathan failed in first 2 tests why he kept him on the team. I feel Pathan needs to be rested for few matches to sort out himself.

doood, we lose one test and everythin dada does is wrong! :)

y has he kept pathan in the side? its onli because of his eye for talent and his faith and persistence tht 2day u sing praises of yuvraj and sehwag. yuvi wouldve ben dropeed like 2 years ago if dada hadnt supported him. it was also his plan to make viru open. the youngters dnt look up to him for nothing mann.

and we mite not b as good as the aussies but cricket is a tough and demamding sport and lets give dada a break. he's gng thru a rough timee and im sure he'll come thru in the one dayers. its never been easy being the captain of the indian team, not as far as i can remember...so chill

Why do we always go for a draw?
by Sameer Bhide on Mar 30, 2005 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

When strong indian batting line up goes onto the field on 5'th day, no matter whether the match is heading towards a draw, or india is going out for a win, our batsmen try hard to make opposition feel that they have a chance to defeat india.

There are lots of evidences. When india was chasing 225 odd runs in the 2'nd test match in Australia tour, we had lost 6 wickets by the time we reached the target. In W.Indies, some 6-7 yrs back, while chasing a small target of 120 odd runs, our batting line up collapsed and we could manage only 90 runs on board in the fourth innings.

Why does not indian think-tank realize that if the batsmen play their natural game ( hitting the ball on its merit and not just playing each and every ball with a dead bat ) then it will force the opposition to remove some of their ( rather most of their ) close-in fielders and go for a defensive field with less number of fielders surrounding the batsman? This obviously will reduce the chance of getting out and then some pushes into the gaps for 1's and 2's can let the team go home with a win!!

This clearly shows that we lack the professional attitude required to finish off the matches efficiently!

81 runs, to be precise! The Tendulkar-led Indian team could manage only 81 runs in their 2nd innings while chasing a modest 120 runs target against West Indies!!

Why India down shutters & future in store
by Bharat Dalal on Mar 30, 2005 09:58 AM

India has a captain who always takes pride in being no 2. It is now high time such nonsense person is shown the door. V V S Laxman only plays when his place comes in doubt. We always hear that he is a very stylish player etc but now it is high time he gives way to younger players.
If India is to be no 1 in the cricket worl, we have to do away with the zonal quota system and 5 selectors. We require only 3 selectors and there should be qualification ie that person should have played in 25 Tests and/ or 50 ODI. Also, all players must play a minimum of 5 first class matches in a year.

Article on cricket loss
by gautam chatterjee on Mar 30, 2005 09:43 AM

bang on target. absolutely agree with you. indian team had accepted defeat at the onset only facing a total of 570. the heads of all of them should hang in shame after giving away the game so tamely. there is no better defence than attack, they simply forgot this and even the coach was of no use.

That was a nice article especially when the whole of India is frustrated with the effortless performance by the Indians.

I would, nevertheless, like to highlight that the critics are a very fickle lot. In this article you seem to be all praise for Shewag and Sehwag only. Definately he is a pillar supporting the team, but, you cannot say that the Indian team is a one man show with only Sehwag propping up the team.

I agree that Laxman, Ganguly and Tendulkar havent been able to gather the big runs, but, you definitely cannot overlook Rahul Dravid who i feel has contributed, if not more, then equally enough to Indian Test Cricket as Sehwag has. It may not be the case for this test match in particular but you can see the overall picture.

When a player does good it is only he who stands out in reviews by critics like you and the rest are all deemed worthless. I guess you people need to be more fair when presenting your views.

Sorrowfull state of Indian Team
by R.Sadheesh on Mar 30, 2005 09:37 AM

It is really painfull that Gangully is continuing to retain his original form. He has not showed any signs of improvement. Gangully should be allowed to play his natural game not as an CAPTAIN but as a regular player. Sachin once again has to prove that he is a star batsman. Eveybody has forget that there is a player named sachin. There is a very good opening partnership for us. The only thing the middle order has to be shuffled.
