Hi Prem, Great to read your columns again after such a long gap! I would like to say that as long as our bowling remains pathetic we will never win on regular basis. Pakistan batsmen have plundered our bowling attacks over the decades but the same batsmen come a cropper against every other attack. Unless we find 3-4 world class bowlers the story will remain the same in the future. The best minds in India need to be employed to find a solution to this serious problem. Our bowling is so weak, we can not hope for easy wins even against teams like West Indies, Zimbabwe, Srilanka leave alone teams like Australia, England, South Africa( unless we play them on huge turning tracks). That also may not be so easy once Anil Kumble is out of the team. Our batsmen played defensive cricket and cost us the game but it is the bowlers who got us into that situation in the first place with their pathetic bowling. Regards, Prakash
Let's not talk of how worthless a player Ganguly is.........how about talking of someone who can replace him APTLY.........as far as CAPTAINCY is concerned? Any suggestions.........why doesn't someone come up with a few names, so to say? Let's get to the bottom.......we're all a bunch of nerves. And, by the way.............is Ganguly the only batsman around? We've got the world's number 1 bat! Or, do we not? I'm not quite sure if it was so important to cross Gavaskar's record though! well, the media did chose to hype that.........
Ganguly,Tendulkar, laxman, n Gambir.... Bunch of wasted players. They r fit of ads & promos. I dont think they r players anymore. BCCI is hanging around them for thier adverdisment capacity.
Its hig time we have new fresh dedicated players get into team. same way remove the selectors too. Bring in new ideas & thoery so that we can form a team that plays with lions heart & win matches......Y for that materr lose match with pride. No shame in fighting the bull & dying on the way.
Adios OLD comrades. Make Bajji the one day captain & Kumble the Test captain. Certainly they will prove they r worth the post for atleast 2 years. India will find good results under theses 2 grt players.
there needs to be a reshuffle in the middle order. the board needs to show that some of the top players are also sackable if they fail to perform over a prolonged period of time. to be a top team we need players to perform consistently on the pitch, not off it.
Bhupinder I totally agree with your points. But our plea will fall in deaf ears. There is a gentleman by name Jagmohan dalmiya who will not allow any of these to happen. Dont ask me if he has any cricketing experience? As long he is part of the Board Sourav will be there in the team. i admired him as a captain. Now he has lost that too It looks more like a match fixing
After watching this test, i am pretty sure my blood pressure was increasing when i saw the entire second innings from both the sides. The Most Worrying factor is the attitude of our so called World's best batting Order( i personally don't think so).
Ganguly is hopelessly out of form and it is having on his captaincy. whenever the TV Cameras are showing him, i am really frustrated to see the pathetic look on his face. Laxman is producing a 50 odd score innings whenever his place is in danger and sehwag, rahul are the only batsmen who are in form. Gambhir is having a good attitude but he is giving his wicket easily after each start.
I am not really sure sachin has recovered from his injury. The way he is batting now-a-days is really not worth watching.
coming back to sourav, looks like the other team has sorted him out. Whenever he is having trouble facing spinners, he comes out of the crease to hit them and danesh produced a perfect flipper to deceive him. I don't like the captain who is very proud at being number 2 team.
Did the team down the shutters in this test only? what about the first test? This Indian team is relying on few individual performances, they needed a hero in the third test and I thought Sachin would do that, but was shocked to see Sachin scoring @ 6 runs in 66 balls....strike rate of 9!!...did Bradman play like this anytime....or there should not be any comparison.....because a great player is one that playes to the occasion....
This match reeks of fixing. It was a flashback to Azza/Jadeja days when all of a sudden the whole team falls apart without logic. Pak team is a 2nd grade team who won this match so that there would be some interest in the 1 day series.
