we need match winning palyers.....
by raj on Jul 20, 2005 06:12 PM

even if u are a great palyer if not performing well at international level should be excluded from team. cos we dont have match winning players. sachin and ganguly contributed well with their bat but still india cantt win world cup. so we need match winning players not players who score 10000 runs.

players shud be given chance on the basis of performance and not on the basis of seniority or regionality.

otherwise the indian team is going to sink for ever.

Ganguly or NO Ganguly
by Vikas on Jul 20, 2005 04:56 PM

Ganguly! Ganguly! Ganguly!

The name has been going around doing the headlines in almost all leading dailies and news channels. And the big question is "WOULD HE GET BACK TO WHERE HE WAS?"

Firstly, let us not forget what all he has given to the Indian Cricket. But then, as they say, every game is a new game and you have to perform ....sorry out-perform in each game. To do more than your best. That is the mantra to survive in this fast and rapidly changing game where newer technologies are coming up to shape the players and to give the game a new look.

A bad patch can be there and should be treated just like any other phase. But the important thing to consider is, 'For how long can you allow that bad patch to prevail?' Age according to me is not the factor. It is the experience and the fitness levels which is on Ganguly's side. And it would just be a matter of time before he gets back into his stride.

And that time needs to be pretty soon. Or else the entire nation could well see the back of Ganguly forever.

The debate is whether can the bad patch be for 2-3 years. According to me, YES. But then cricket is a team game in which results matter the most.

Ganguly - will be in the team
by karthikeyan on Jul 20, 2005 04:06 PM

hi,
ganguly, whether he scores runs or not, whether india wins or loses, will be in the team because indian team is selected on fame and names and not on merit.
for me, the best left hand bat presently in india is Hemang badani, who is not considered for selection.
for example, both kaif and yuvraj have lower averages and strike rate, than badani and he is technically very strong. hope greg chappel does something abt it.
since we (our team) are lacking in professionalism.

Ganguly's Form
by Muralidhar on Jul 20, 2005 02:58 AM

I am very good fan of Ganguly and i like him very much with his bat, and at the same time he has a very good leadership qualities as a captain, there are many in the team who can lead but not as Ganguly does according to him, a captain need to have a Ease of winning every match which the team play's, according to me Ganguly is the player who wants to win every game for India. I too agree with his bad form, but its only time being, he will be back with colors, y do all go behind Ganguly there are some other senior players who too lag in thier form but kept behind due to their fame. I am sure that Ganguly will keep his mark with his coming chance.

Ganguly's Form
by Anshuman on Jul 19, 2005 09:52 PM

Hi,

Sourav Ganguly probably the most talked about, talked back and talked what-not cricketer in this world.

It doesnt take an expert to pronounce him as one of the greats of all time. Sourav with his batting and Captaincy has won countless matches for India. But, alas! people still have problem.

My take is there are people who cant digest his success and are after him all the time. How else do we explain this mindless criticism of a player who changed the face of Indian cricket, who has the backing of all the contemporary players, who is by far the best ever captain of India and one who has served Indian cricket for more than a decade.

Guys, just imagine you are working in a company say an IT company. We all know the pressures associated with it. Now, ask yourself honestly how many days are there when you perform much below your potential and still get away with it becoz you are not in the public eye.

Former Indian Captains and cricketers who criticize Ganguly are not half as good as him. Great cricketers of Indian will never criticize him bcoz they know what it takes to become great. Its only the lesser cricketers who shout for his head every now and then.

i think ganguly is gone...you do feel bad for him..but hey..if the aussies could axe mark waugh..west indians could axe Lara, pakis could axe saqlain, the english could axe thorpe, why are we indians hesitating to axe a person who has been a liability for the past 3 years. Respect him for his pasr records, but give a more deserving guy a chance in the team.

Ganguly has to be replaced
by manohar on Jul 18, 2005 04:58 PM

i feel ganguly had enough of time to regain his form back . but he has still not proved yet , so i feel that he should be dropped and let him perform and prove himself in county and earn a place in the team back like the other players , we just cannot wait for his form to come back and keep trying him and waste a position in the first eleven. there are other players waiting and when will they get a chance to prove themseleves ?. we cannot make a strong team by the past performance , but we have to consider the current form .

Gangulys regaining form
by DR Banerjee on Jul 18, 2005 04:18 PM

If your basic is faulty you can not score ten thousand rund in ODI and more than five thousand runs in test matches. What Saurav need is to rectify those
areas where opponet bowlers are trying to peg him.He need remember Great Ranji who initially was very un-
comfortable with Larud but soon came out with delecta-
ble leg glances and made tons against Australia. He is
to be grasive on the on side so that opponets tries to
pack those areas and then advantage to play his most
strong areas as in the off side.Look at Sachin who has gradually cut down short squere cuts which used to be upish giving chanced for caught at squire or point and now plays :V: initially to reach 30/40 to be
ready to attack all round. This break will make Saurav
a better player and better captain.Saurav,Sachin,Rahul
Lakshman,Viru are the backbone of the batting side till 07 world cup.Graig Chappel should put his bit to
make Irfan Pathan a good all rounder which he is capable and then you have a good wicketkeeper, two other pacer and two spiners to make your best eleven.

Hi
by Jayakar on Jul 18, 2005 01:15 PM

Hi,

Firstly Ganguly is a good player who comes in the list of great players in india like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Vengsarkar, Vishwanath, Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid etc.

As Salim Durani Said he should open his eyes and close his hears. This helps him lot and for India. At the age of 33 if he bats like an younger player and who cares about the age.
