RE:Selection with no sense

wht u ve opined is fine. but why u feel that sachin plays for records.rather its the records which are tumbling when he s playing. true! he has not performed upto his own callibre,by not scoring consistantly in last 1-2 yr. but no need to carry a cheep concept on him. he will never open his mouth against ane thing and let his bat speak. a true gem as he is , we will realise what we lost the day when he will come back after playing his last inning in world cricket.
As summarized by the article, there are several glitches in the selection
1. Shoaib Akthar: Something is really wrong in the Cricketing world if we want to win a match with Shoaib rather than with someone like Chaminda Vaas. This one went totally wrong
2. Inzy: When they made one mistake with including one Paki, they corrected it by removing another. What reason the selectors will come up for excluding Inzy will be interesting.
3. Daniel Vettori: Can someone explain to me how he is more effective in tests than Anil Kumble (He has 11 wickets in Sdyney recently!) & how he is more effective than Upul Chandana in ODIs
A few more random thoughts: 4. Boucher over Sangakkara: In tests, how does this help? 5. Afridi: What is his record in Aus ODIs? 6. Laxman: Probably the best record in Aussie land for tests! 7. Sachin: Not to offend anyone, Sachin - as all will know deep inside, is in the side at the expense of someone like Inzy (Tests).
Sunny, you have lost the right to critize any of our zone based selection as that is the same mistake you have committed. How can you plead 'NOT GUILTY' to charges of being politically correct for including as many test playing nation
For World XI, captain is not really significant. Captains have quite some role in the national teams. They have to build the teams, make the stratigies, take the decisions on the field. But for World XI, their is no question of building the team. For making the stratigies and taking the decisions on the field, the players like Sachin, Dravid, Lara, Muralitharan, Kalis are all experienced enough that they can convene and make the best strategy. So the captain should have been chosen on the basis of the his reputation and respect that he has got from other top players. In that respect Sachin would have been the best captain. I am not saying this not only because i am a fan of Sachin, but he is one person that commands respect in the cricketing world that anybody else. So, I think selection of Smith for the sake of selecting a captain is a huge mistake. I dont think he has a place in the side.
Another mistake was to omit Inzamam. I am a patriotic Indian, and hence I am no fond of our neighbour nation; but when its about cricket and fairness, Inzamam should have been in the side. Of course not as a captain. He could be a perfect fit for fourth or fifth place.
Well I must say that Michael Vaughan would have been the best captain at the moment... and captaincy should have gone to him ..he have tremendous record against aussies and at the moment he is taking on Aussies using their skills ... Graeme smith ..is useless ..and I feel somewhere he have this feeling that he and his team nothing in front of aussies ... Injamam ..well its a big sorry to him but he couldn't have been included ..my feeling is that there was only one place in the team and that is of captain and ..and Injmam is never considered a good captain .. not a aggressive one ..at least in that department I can smith higher ... Shoaib akhtar is not that good choice ...in fact if it would have been possible then best fast bowler at the moment is Shane bond... and surely I can rate kumble higher than vettori ..
The one day team of world eleven does not have substance.
Choosing players like Afridi, Shewag and Gibbs make team more vulnerable to tough Aussie attack. In place of these three I would vote for Razzaq, Dravid and Inzamam.
Dravid and Inzamam in Middle Order would be nightmare for any opposition.
Razzaq is more reliable than Afridi and since you have Sangakkara as opner you dont need Afridi.
Whenever a contest like this is held or proposed there are as many nay sayers as there are approvers. At the end of the day all that matters is whether the teams play great cricket and entertain the cricket loving population worldwide or not.
We can have endless debates over who is a good capatain, who is a good wicket keeper etc. Well one would have like to see someone from the sub-continent lead the team, one would have like to see maybe Michale Vaughn as a captain but for all this and more there would have been others saying no this is not right.
The fact of matter is that this is a unique event and infact if it is successful this should become like a Olympics of cricket , three tests and 5 ODI's once every four years between the top ranked test and one day nation and the ROW.
HA HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!

Hi friend
You mean the Australians will be blasted these World XI. This is a challenge my dear friend, this team will loose badly both in tests and one dayers because it is filled with selfish palyers(Except Rahul Dravid). They will play for corporates not for the team.........
I rather than me whole of cricket world will be surprised by the exclusion of such a great player like Inzamam. But still I think that the team selected by the selectors is capable of beating the Kangaroo's in their home truff..... Lookin forward for an exciting series.... All the best for both teams and play in true spirit of circket....
