i dont think its a very good choice...vaughn should get chance...even he deservs the captancy... why sewbagh in test team?chaminda vaas is ignored...vettory is really a match winner?i think bhajji is better against aussies..inzi was supossed to be a autometic choice wth sachin n lara.but i think there are already too many gr8s in middle order line up .dravid sachin lara kallis flintaf boucher.. again in one day...afridi is good attackin batsman..but still he is not best against aussies..last series in africa against afrikans he played so badly..inzi must be there instead of him..this is a gr8 mistake..peterson is a new comer..he doesnt hav the experience...rahool should get a chance over him...again chaminda is ignored but he is really good bowler for 1 day
Very surprised to see inzamam being omitted in both the One day and Test team. To be frank, he can walk in any other country team without any problem. I am not really sure about Kevin Petterson. Yup, he is a lad with good future but just by hitting shane warne for 4 or 5 sixes and show some agressive postures in front of the telivision camera does not mean that he is world class.
Let me tell you, i am watching this guy from the beginning. He wants to be in centre of attraction all the time. Also, he has spilled many catches in the current ashes series than anyone.

they should have had vaughn as an opener instead of smith, and inzi could replace any of the squad anyway!!! all we can hope for is that there is no collapse!!! the only one capable of handling the pressure is pieterson in the odi squad!!! test team will badly miss inzi and vaughn. this only confirms one thing, "MONEY"
Biased selection, wondering where smith comes, Inzamam has proven every now and then who has played more than a decade doesnt find a place in odi and test teams tells the truth. Mr.Gavaskar is always biased, he has ruined so many players careers by simply saying he is technically correct or cannot play short ball, swing ball etc, but he cannot be a good selector. If he is technically correct, what good he has done to indian cricket. Many technicallly incorrect batsmen has flourished for their countries and won many a matches single handedly. Hansie Cronje, Sehwag, pieterson, kaif, laxman, and many more who have won more matches than sachin or lara. Inzamam should have been in the team. Remove Gavaskar from the selection panel even in the domestic circuit. He destroyed the carrer of wasim jaffar who was a very good opener, but got minus points from gavaskar. When you have proved in domestic circuit, it is going to take a little time to get into the international circuit. Every batsman play their best against the best to prove themselves. Still Jaffar is better bet than gambhir or ramesh.
This is amazing stuff. For ODIs Sehwag and Afridi are openers and in the middle order there are no Dravid and no Inzi. I think i know what is going to happen. After 3 overs when the scoreboard will read 20/2 and then by 10 overs it will read 35/5 I am sure then selectors will realize what the hell they have done. I cant believe that for such an important series they have selected Afridi and Sehwag as openers when you have Fleming and Jaysuria or Fleming & Trescothic like more reliable players. And how will Kevin Pieterson or Flintoff will give support the middle order when they are both basically aggressive players. You need Inzi & Dravid in the middle order either chasing big totals or if there is a collapse at the top of the order. I think excluding Inzi & Dravid for the team is basically not recognizing the quality of these players. I dont buy that Pieterson and and Gibbs are better players then Inzi and Dravid.
all one can say that 95% of the squad desrved to be selected.only one can say what vettori is doing here instead of kumble/kaneria/bhajji. for all u tendulkar baiters just see his record against aussies and compare with those selected/not selected. if u go by last 12 months only then sachin is one of the premier ODI all-rounder. if u go by match winning innings just tell me how many test matches pakistan has won against australia in last ten years. as for afridi he is team as allrounder not like inzimam/dravid who have just one skill. but i think either of them could have been in the team instead of gibbs.
HI , The world XI selectors have definitely engagaed in tokenism , no man in his right mind would select Vetori ahead of Kumble ,especially considering the fact tht Kumble was the highest wicket taker in 2003 Aussie series and ripped them aprt at cheenai the following year
1. They wanted to make Graeme Smith as captain to did not include Inzamam. May be the same reason for Vaughan! 2. Also Jayasuriya was not considered! 3. Sachin does not fit in the current ODI squad at all 4. Selection should be based on Test results of the team in the last 5 years of the current active players at Sydney and for ODI at Melbourne. Same for captains. 5. The selection criteria to be publicly available and the selection done by computer using STATISTICS only. 6. We do not need the BIASED selectors!!! 7. Let's change the team - can we do that - start a campaign - we need to SUE these selectors in PUBLIC INTEREST and win!!!
