Standing a foot or so from the crease is o.k. But towards off stump could be dangeruos. Gillespie& Kasprowitch could pierce easily with their pace ,when the Bats men are out of form.
It is high time the complete Indian Team (if there is any team in its real sense) needs to be changed. In a populas country like ours it is strange that we do not find batsmen who are reliable, bowlers who can bowl the opposition twice in a test match,& fielders who are not only quick silver footed but also hands with gloves to take the catches ¬ spill them. It is surprising also that BCCI has entered into contract giving very high pay packages, without any relation to their performance. Why not put a blanket ban on commercials for the contracted players? as I feel they earn so much, why should they sweat it out on the field. The media also palys (Overplays) the perfect foil for these greedy players.Ask if they have any self respect or the National pride? I am not saying that we win every time. But the abject surrender, when they should be putting a fight for the national pride,is an element missing totally. We should ban playing cricket for 5 years,I assure you nothing will be lost.
Why is Ajay Ratra beung discarded if a blunder like Parthiv Patel was given so many chances.Ajay Ratra was routed out of team after he scored a match saving century with Laxman in Westindies. Has anyone noticed why now he is not even in India A.He is an excellent keeper and a very mature batsman.I hope selectors see this guy who has been regarded highly by genuises like Ravi Shastri and Gavaskar. India cricket team needs change,Please dont compare the individual performance with teams like kenya, bangladesh etc.we have to select them according to the performance with team like Australia,Nuz,Paki.. I think we can kick off most of the players in india team which is played with AUS now.I dont think why our people keeping Laxman, kumple,Agarkar in the team. Dont think Laxman played in last test match so we won the match...ya well if u give the chance to new youngers then even they can perform better.See in 4 test innings(8 matches), laxman has played in last match...Even any batsman can do that.. BCCI should look the team performance and not the individual performance and not the money to select the team..
Nothing personal against you but you simply dont understand cricket if you think of dropping laxman and dravid and that also from test team.Laxman was never a one day player and never will be, but dont react so quickly, pleas
This is an excellent article. However, as the author has correctly pointed out, "worship and vituperation are truly fickle in the world of Indian cricket." And since the Indian team has won (just) one match after a few demoralizing defeats, we can now expect a string of letters abusing the author for criticising the (really abuse-worthy) Indian team.
There's no doubt that DEDICATION to the game is lacking in our team. Our players continue to be the overpayed, underperforming lot. It's the public who should be blamed for this unworthy worship being showered on these players.
It's high time we stop giving unnecessary importance to cricket and start giving due importance to other games also. Remember, India is a great country that has won ONLY 4 medals in the Olympics so far! Let us give importance to other games also.
i thing badani is the better player to select the indian team he was experiance compainer like kaif&yuvraj.he is type of improviser&top class runner between the wicket also a good fielder... this ismy comment.
The Indian Cricket Team's performance against the invincible Aussies was in one word "PATHETIC". The stars on whom so much depended were busy counting moolas instead of playing for the nation. The whole team needs an overhaul and sooner the better.
since world cup 2003 till the pakistan tour this year, india's performance in tests and one dayers puts it as one of the greatest indian teams in spite of not having the best fast bowlers (in name, reputation, and physique) - in response to Arvind's mail, a post mortem would reveal the following:
Parthiv Patel - it has been proved beyond a shadow of doubt that he is not born to keep - this has cost india many matches including a possible series win in australia. in chennai, he dropped hayden at nought off zaheer in the 2nd over (a sitter) - had that catch been taken, the australian's would have been under severe pressure. instead the openers managed to hang around long enough to see off the new ball. that cost india the madras test - martyn's performance notwithstanding. however parthiv's batting has blossomed - in england, australia and pakistan - instead of a keeper, he could be the answer to india's opening problem - he has the technique, tenacity and temperament to hang in there
ganguly - o captain, my captain, when will you score runs?
BCCI - murky politics, supreme court invovled, factions, and fractious elements - this affects the team..(lack of space)
