This Great Victory
by S.Subramaniam on Nov 06, 2004 03:47 PM

Dear Sir,

Thou it is a great victory but not have any Test match standard. It is great victory because India had won the game. only Luck plays the important role here.
yesterday india had that luck to win the.

We don't have any team sprit, no good openers, very bad selection poor fielding very bad pitch but india had won the game is just because of Luck

Thanking you

Subramaniam

india''s victory
by sanjay gupta on Nov 06, 2004 11:12 AM

it is really nice to know that india won at last. it was the best trio we have, make spinning pitches as told by the ganguli. everything is fair in war. there is only two kind of balling are successful in test cricket, fast balling and spin balling, if they will prepare fast pitches then we should prepare spinning tracks
best of luck indian team

A victory not worth being proud of?
by Shridhar Aiyer on Nov 06, 2004 10:06 AM

Seeing the Indian team rejoicing after the Mumbai test victory does not show the fact that this match was completed in just two days. At best this match represented a 'gully' cricket match which threw up undeserving heroes. At worst it is a sad day for cricket.

The man of this match should have been the pitch curator. At this rate India would be a laughing stock in the eyes of test playing nations. No doubt, the home team should certainly enjoy the advantage of pitches favouring their strength; however, the pitch should ensure that a contest is created that brings out the batting and bowling prowess of the teams. As a cricket lover, this match was not worth paying money to watch.

Finally, the selectors should be careful not to get influenced by this win to judge the current form and capability of the players. Consistent performance from the top order batsmen is missing. The match winning capability of our seam bowlers is a matter of concern. The new fast bowlers while good have to a long way to go; maybe the selectors should reconsider successful experienced fast bowlers who for inexplicable reasons are not in contention.

Indian victory
by L.R.Gopinath on Nov 06, 2004 09:00 AM

It was prooved that India can win matches only on a spining track and the under prepared wickets. It is shame for the cricket. Its time for ICC to look into this.

More Escape Routes to Victory.
by Shankar.C.N. on Nov 06, 2004 06:37 AM

For the Record Book it was All over in THREE Days! The reality is it just lasted for 200 Overs with 1% extra. 202 overs in all including rounding offs. 40 Wickets - not one run out! Poly Umrigar could be asked to prepare All the pitches for Home Series and India made to Win All Tests. For that Ganguly has to sit out. Perhaps it is too much of an ask until he choses to step down or retire. The other problem will be India will have to join Bangladesh & Zimbabwe and play Tests only at home! The incidental benifit is BCCI can become very rich!

Ponting's Remarks
by Manoj on Nov 05, 2004 10:48 PM

I dont understand why Ponting is so worried about the Wankhede pitch. The pitch was perfect and behaving the same for both the teams. Instead of crediting Indian bowlers, he gave a statement that the pitch was out of Test conditions. The captain of the World's strongest side giving such remarks is illogical. And that too with the target they had for the second innings. Full credit goes to the Indian bowlers, Sachin and VVS for their performance in the final test which brings us some solace.
