Its business
by imn on Jan 26, 2004 12:12 AM

ICC is hopelessly stuck in past and so is our BCCI, why cant the umpires be given portable video devices where they can demand replays(just like football) to help make better decision . ICC's referee's are biased is beyond doubt, but hey its the player's fee that is fined - BCCI gets its piece of pie. Its busiess not personal.

I cannot agree more with your report. The umpires,in the ongoing series, have given some shocking decisions.
And the matter gets aggravated by the practice of Mr.Bucknor taking his own time in giving a decision, awfully lot of in my opinion.
The fine imposed on the Indian team looks so obviously biased.
How come the Match referee did not give the explanation of Dravid on the issue he was charged with.
The public still is in the dark as to what actually happened and if Rahul was guilty as alleged.

Support Boys Or Call Them Back
by Sanjeev Gupta on Jan 25, 2004 04:56 PM

Our players need support; they are young, they are being constantly subjected to hostile officialdom and media; they need to take their minds off from likes of Bucknor and Clive; who are openly misusing their position and handing out blatantly biased decisions with impunity. Our team is our soldiers and ambassadors, if we as a nation cannot provide them needed help we should call them back. Hats off to them, what they have done is admirable, hope I could say the same for BCCI and all of us.

Who will guard the guardians
by Vikram Shah on Jan 25, 2004 04:41 PM

Simple answer. India ought to have her own "World Cup". Follow
the USA on this one. Some day the rest of the world will come to
its senses.

prem's right

Prem's hit the nail on the head. I've been watching this series with a growing sense of outrage. About time someone in the BCCI told the ICC some home truths. Do we want our boys to take the law into their own hands again like they did in S.Africa?

How about doing something ourselves
by Krishna Kumar on Jan 25, 2004 11:23 AM

We have seen a lot of these biased actions from the umpires and match referees - the tendulkar and Sehwag fines being a glaring example. Is it possible that we can sue the ICC under some forum (for example under rediff)? I really doubt whether Mr.Dalmiya will do something, and if he does, whether he will achive anything. I am not sure about others, but if someone is going to sue these guys, I would like to contribute both financially as well as in any other way possible.

should we always turn the other cheek?

I agree with the abovementioned observations. The subcontinent is providing the money that is oiling the cricketing machinery worldwide... time to leverage that power... What is the point of having a stick when the will to use it is not there? learn from the US example.. if you have it wield it!
