Ok,Lakshman did not perform well consistantly and not upto the mark. If so Ganguli,the captain have not performed captains knock at any time to bring glory to the nation.He is in the team because of his captaincy.Tendulkar was in the team against Aussis inspite of his physical inability,thereby depriving chance to deserving young player.Try new talented players ,give them chance,groom them for future worldcup. For the next world cup Tendulkar,Dravid,Kumble,Ganguliwill be liabilities,they wont have 100%performance due to age.Replace them.Lakshman is better than Ganguli .Ganguli scored about 80 runs in nearly 30 overs against Lanka and we lost the match,he played to get some form not for a win. When so many players are out of form or physically 100% not fit had been considered and were on among the 15 of the team. I dont know why Lakshman alone has to dropped?Pure politics.Dinesh Mongia has been selected,like Ganguli he can play well against minnos only.He didnt do well in the worldcup why again he is selected,some favoritism?Because of Lakshman only the match against Australia in Bombay was won even it is a moral victory for India.The very next match against SA Lakshman was not palyed at No3 spot,what is the reason behind this?Ganguli and Dravid are 2 or less than per over and wasting many balls.Some of the ODIs were lost because of low scoring rate of Ganguli and Dravid.Why selectors are not observing.Ganguli is ineffective as a fielder and his running between the wickets is very poor.He has not improved in all these years ,how many laxity should be shown by the selectors?Why the selectors are not dropping him from the team.Most of his centuries are only aginst Minnos.Drop Tendulkar for his physical unfitness,drop Ganguliand Dravid and Kumble from the team ,select young best players keeping in view of 2007 worldcup
It is Absolutely ridiculous on the part of the Indian Selectors to drop Laxman from One day squard..He (Laxman) has not been in good form of late...the selctors should justify why he was dropped(rested)he is injury free and fit to play....Indian team is not as athletic as SAfrica,Australia,Kiwis... If the selectors dropped laxman because of his fielding then they should reconsider their decision because
Ganguly is the worst fielder in our team ,Rahul is good in Slips if he is not keeping,Hsingh is also a average fielder..
If the selectors were interested in future of Indian Cricket this tour was an Ideal platform for them to test some younger players who have been knocking the doors for some time....Because in 3-4 years just after the 2007 world cup i dont seen Raul,Sachin,Laxman,Ganguly Continuing beacuse they will be around 35-36 years...
It is alright for the HCA to show its displeasure by writing to the BCCI and the selection committee. However Laxman's performance has not been that good even in test matches leave alone one dayers.
With his calibre he should have scored atleast one century out of the 4 tests played against Australia.
This does not mean others have done their job well.Sachin, Ganguly and Shewag have also not fared well. If associations take up cudgels like this we will only have lame ducks in our team.
I don't know about the rest but i think selection of Laxman in the Indian ODI team is the worst possible thing that happened to india , and if you look at the record you will understand what i am tryin to say , Laxman hit 3 centuries in australia and india won 1 match in which Yuvraj also got a century(at a very fast pace) pathetic feilder , non-bowler , dicy batsman , he is the worst possible oneday player , and i think by persisting with him we are robbing the genuine chance from the youngsters like Dinesh mongia(aggressive,decent bowler,gr8 feilder) ,MS Dhoni, and like
don't forget laxman wasn't selected for the world cup, he is a type of player who should be selected selectively , like pick him for ausie tours etc.
In a one day team we should look at including players who act as a force multiplier like all rounders , wicket keeper batsman , good feilders ,jonty rodes was never a gr8 batsman , he ever bowled a single bowl ,but saved atleast 35-40 runs and took amazing catches .
Players like laxman are ok for a test match in which you battle as a batsman or a bowler but not in ODIs where you fight in every dept.
During tough matchess LAXMAN is send at No. 3 and when weaker opposition comes he is send to No. 6. Thats why his average is 28.88. How better is ganguly "the captian of india" who never performs when it matters. The CRICKET GAME HAS TOO MUCH POLITICS RUN BY DALMIYA J.
With the present form of V.V.S.LAKSHMAN he should be sacked from team - atleast for a little while. We wonder why he is retained in team for so long when he is not in form. It will do no harm to his cofidence, instead he has to play domestic cricket & prove to the selection committe that he has retained his form & then take his place in the team by authority & not by telling the story Once upon a time against Autra.....
This is also good for the team - building a healthy competetion that more people are behind - playing well to take up your place & it is not for granted. See pak. every then & while new faces are coming & playing great knocks but in India we have five batsmen - Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Shewag, VVS.Lakshman - we will retain them for ever till they retair - does this mean that India doesn`t have any other batsmen?
Rethink on it India has many Tendulkar & Dravid(like Badani) only they have to be given oppertunities - gohead with positive thoughts on VVS resting & let the new talents pour in. After all this is International Sports & you should be ready to fight it out instead of pouring in sentiments & stories.
I believe he should be given a longer break becuase his performance has been so bad i am surprised that the team is still having him. i have also noticed that some responsible person giving example of his past performance of 280 etc , i believe this short of comments should be slashed down immendiately. we should look at the current performance in which he has faired badly and should be rested.
