None of the Indian batsmen have had a good run in One-dayers recently, then why is Laxman being dropped? How many more times will he have to prove his ability?

HCA is showing needless sentiments for Laxman
by Manoj on Dec 04, 2004 10:42 PM

Well i think the selection commitee has done the right thing.... lax has always been a better player in the longer version of the game than the shorter one. Laxman is basically a rythmn player ... much like the Mark waugh kind ... sometimes he can be awesomely amazing ... and other times he would be irritatingly casual and gives his wicket away cheaply.

lax at times needs to be pinpricked ... u must never give him the soft corner or the cushion for a place in the team ....

he needs to be reminded a lot of times that he has to perform to be in the side ...and thats exactly what the selection committee has done...

"hats off to u selectors"... u ve done a "good job".

Your article entitled 'HCA questions 'resting' Laxman'

Laxman's performance in all versions of the game has been pathetic. He hasn't performed in any game in the last year or so.

He can't expect to be in the Indian team based on the 281 he scored aeons ago....

I'd rather have someone who consistently scores 50 - 70 runs rather than a Laxman.

selectors are very bad n waste..
by yaseen on Dec 04, 2004 08:33 PM

cant tell anything abut selectors, i think its better(excellent) that no BCCI commity is required for indian team, waste of crores of money spending for them, they know to argue with ICC abut ganguly's suspancion but dont know to select a team. they should have rested Tendulkar who is not playing well, nand no team member is playing well, so Y only Laxman "RESTED" means "RUSTED" (they want 2 rust laxman. if they hav gave given a chance against a below-par team, with-out doubt he can get his form back, n lastly "BCCI is all politics" cant a any-think more then that, Can say a "Gambaler". dont make a mistake again, and form a team like Australia, bring prayers like Micheal Clake is a best example fro this.. mainly improve Domistic cricket n bring Ranjies players, n give them full oppertunies, if they perform below-par also, give them confidence, and take players from South-India(Hemang badani is one)n many more players..

Comments on Laxman
by Duha on Dec 04, 2004 08:05 PM

I suppose HCA the number of chances that BCCI has given to Laxman.I don't think anyother player in Indian team has got so many chances ever.OK his record is good in some matches. But look at all the series after the one in Pakistan & it shows that he has failed miserably.Besides the shorter version of game requires good fielders & laxman is one of the poorest fielders in Indian team.If he would have been in the Australian team he might have been shown the way to door much before.

I think Indian team badly require some changes & Laxman is one of them.

South bias
by Dr. N. Navinkumar on Dec 04, 2004 07:48 PM

This is not new. Several good players from South face this. Just listen to Manjrekar wax eloquent each time about Agarkar, despite his poor averages, and denounce any bowler/batsman from down south, esp. Balaji or Karthik currently. Sadagopan Ramesh is one more who has faced this predicament. They searched high and low for "openers" and even sent in Yuvaraj while he seemed like a cat on a hot tin roof facing the new ball. Ramesh has proved his mettle against all quickies and he now carries water bottles for the likes of Gambhir and Chopra. Going by Laxman's one day "current" average he should have expected this. HCA raising a hue and cry is not going to help VVS's cause one bit. In fact, the Baroda-Punjab clique in the selector panel will get steelier in their resolve to keep the all-encompassing "Madarasis" out.

My Comment for resting Laxman
by Harjinder Singh on Dec 04, 2004 07:15 PM

There is nothing wrong to give the chances to youngsters by giving rest to some senior player ,especially when we are going to play with compratively weaker team ie Bangla Desh.

Players like Laxman have to show their strenth with

team like Australia,Pak etc.He has to increase his average which is in last encounters is aprox.30 run

Thanks

I understand is ia a rubbish regional tune.I have nothing against Laxman but if you see his record he don't have done anything great.

By saying Rest, selectors have taken care of Laxman's respect.

The decision might be a correct one
by KISHU on Dec 04, 2004 06:37 PM

From the subject itself it is understood that I am going to comment roughly on VVSL. First of all, I want to say VVSL is a good batsman. But scoring a century in one game and not playing well in next few matches should not be bearable. This applies to all batsmen in Indian team. Scoring a century on weak team and then fumbling while playing with good team does not bring a good impression on the player. Good or bad, the same rule should be applied on all players.
