Kartik

A BRILLIANT PIECE SHRI PANICKER. With votemania in the air, I have to use a similar metaphor. If Murali Kartik were standing for "election" to the Indian cricket team, he would have won a landslide victory, nationwide. Sadly, add the "s" to election and the entire scenario changes. A man who has convinced a nation of one billion, could not persuade five "wise" souls. And we crave for victories on foreign soil...we worry about conditions abroad... hey wake up, we have problems with our selectoral soil, we have terrible conditions there.....fix that and then we can dare to dream......

I completey agree with the writer as it was not a cricket match. It was a mockery of indian cricket. The way it is played by 11 of our geniuses, i think that there our Ranji players are much much better than these guys. they could have outplayed them in all department of games. shame on you guys. its better stop playing cricket and so playing with the sentiments of cricket crazy fans. when i saw Mr.A. Salvi while batting, i was shocked as how the selectors are selecting players. what was wrong with Nehra. He must have been thrashed for 80 runs on his return but this is not the case. even sachin have scored 80 runs against warne. we need to select the selectors first then talk about the players selection. Its better to call off the Australian tour where they are waiting eagerly to disgrace our players and pack them back. honesly, i

Hey selectors
by umashankar on Nov 20, 2003 02:06 PM

hey selectors,
Do you have any idea what would have happened to you, had you been in Pakistan? after such an illogical team selection?
hey dalmiya, you would have been banished now for suggesting a tour to india, had you been in Pakistan?
democracy has its own disadvantages which we see in the form of Dalmiya, selection committee, ganguly being the captain, goalkeeper deep dasgupta's selection.

No accountability. No logic. Public is not privy in the BCCIs shenanigans. And to top it all, the public US gets just 10 % of the seats during matches. The board gets all the money, good seats, free lunch. We suffer the embarrassment after predictable losses. Will someone file a PIL against the BCCI. I will be the first to contribute. Lets get the rot out of the system.

Hmmm! Finally playing to your strength

Prem - for quite sometime; you were behaving something like Sehbag - occasionally some bright spots but otherwise a series of piece of junk. Especially when you picked on Deep Dasgupta's selection. Trust I am not a great fan of Deep and of course not even remotely a fan of Parthiv whose body language, demeanour, skill make me throw up (after seeing stalwarts like Engineer, Notts and marsh)- That guy just because of his sheer height will never be selected even in a club game let alone in the national team. With a 4 feet height you need two first sleep fielders in stead of one! Any way, the fact is Indian wicketkeeper is rather inconsequential topic as far as Australia tour is concerned. The ball will not come to the keeper period. The only criteria that should aply for Indian XI is how long an individual can stay in the wicket. In that case, Deep fares much better when compared to Parthiv for that matter apart from the top 4 (Sachin ganguly Dravid & Laxman). However, as you rightly said it is just a crime not to take Kartick but fly in Kumble who in fact has become a real joke for quite some time

5 Blind men: A cricket tragedy

Prem Panicker has been right on target in spotting the blunders of the Bunch of Fools sitting there not knowing what they are doing.
I would have chosen to name the article "5 Fools: A cricket tragedy" rather than Blind men."Blind men" have brains but our selectors are "Big time Dumbos".
There has been no logic in selection of teams. Here, if a NBA Team fails, the first person to get fired is the Coach.Unless we bring a system similar where selectors will be held responsible for Teams Failure/Success,the future looks dark for Indian Cricket.

Is there a way?
by J P Biswas on Nov 20, 2003 10:08 AM

Is there a way that a considerable amount of public opinion is generated for the inclusion of Murali Kartik and presented to the board, so that they are forced to pay heed to public opinion? or is it too late?
