why do we give so much attention to a sport that needs 11 players added to a bunch of headstrong selectors and board officials to play a match and then with such a huge star cast still go out and lose the match......... can someone explain.
why is it then that we have no support and backing for our indian hockey team which is faring so well in the recent times....
further, I feel and I am sure all will agree that we should all rise and support the individuals representing our country in the various sports events.
wake up Indians and stop supporting these overpaid brats for they have umpteen amount of chances to prove themselves and then they come good in one and you are fooled into showering them with praises....lets lend support to those who most need it and by saying this you know what I mean.

tvs-cup ...

In my openoin after observing TVS-Cup final,VVS Laksman should through from Indian Oneday cricket team.Because in one day match fielding is most important factor.VVS Laksman is not suitable one for a good fielder.Particularly India lost this match for his several miss.Even he is not hard-hiter too.he unable to score runs very quickly which is very much required for oneday cricket. So better he should repalced by new-comer like Raidu immediately.India should learn from Assis fielding.

Dear Ashish,

please check ur reports for typos, grammatical errors and wrong usage before filing them. And, if you do not know the meaning of words (like ominous) then it may be better not to use them.
Best wishes,

DKC

Aussies Win TVS Tri-series
by KSMSundaram on Nov 19, 2003 09:16 AM

It was the same old story....repeated time after time.

An Indian team which promised so much but faltered at the key moments and plummetted to dungenous depths.

Just for the fact that we dropped so many catches, we did not deserve to win yesterday.

Our much famed batting lineup is nothing but a bunch of paper tigers. 4 batsmen - sachin, VVS, dravid and badani got starts - but failed to go on for a big matchwinning score.

The less talked about VVS, the better. He is a gone case.

So far as sachin is concerned, the little master still continues to have genuine problems against the off cutter / in dipper bowled by the right arm fast/fast medium bowler.Donald and Dilllon has done it to SRT in the past. Now Bichel has done it. He simply is unable to play that delivery.

Badani played some crisp shots - but ran out of luvk.

I want to know whether Yuvraj was born in India or in the West Indies - He simply cannot play spin even if the bowler is Andy Symonds. To get out caught at slip to Symonds of all people....!! Gimme a break.

sehwag needs to be told very soon that australian pitches are not small and the ball will bounce there.

Right from the series both Sachin and Shewag were struggling and particularly in yesterdays match. There was no foot work at all from Sachin as he was clean bowled to a delivery from Bichel which was not at all an unplayable ball.Dravid was unlucky as he dargged the ball .On what ground Yuvaraj was there in the side no one knows.Fielding throughout the series was shabby and in batting definitely he would have just crossed the double digit for the entire series.Indian selectors are a bunch of jokers to have players like him in the side.

Our tail is a such a long and weak tail and they are not at all capable to face a over or two.Agargar didnt have anybody to keep the wickets as otherwise he would have turned the match.

To sum up Indian palyers maintain their consistency by displaying another poor show and not lived up to the expectations and also they will never learn from their mistakes.

Most of them are interested in appearing for commercial ads rather than concentrating in Cricket.

Indians are mentally WEAK
by Supratim on Nov 19, 2003 06:56 AM

Having seen the match yesterday (that too on the internet having spent 3000 bucks), the only thing that comes to mind is that Indians are chokers (or jokers). Look at the way they let go of a chance to win a match against the aussies without having to chase over 300 runs which is very usual(or customary) for India to concede (to anyone anytime). Ridiculous performance fom the Indian team. ANd why are they missing Saurav so much? Who told them that they would have won if he had been there ? Is there any guarantee of that? In my opinion even a Harbhajan Singh can win a match and specially when India were in a confortable position as far as RR is concerned. They only had to keep the wickets. But WHY?? Why should the tail play when the top order could not. They need to be taught at least to defend their wicket if not score runs. Agarkar was going great guns. All that was required was a little sensibility!!!!!! But when did India have it ?? NEVER ?? Its just a waste of time and lot of energy to see these guys playing and LOSING !!!It seems the Indians don't pride themselves in playing for their country, they are better of endorsing products! They have really disreputed their country!!!

congatulations austarlia for games well played.

i think it is time that rediff sports correpondants admit that, for now, australia is the better team, rather than still try to hold a facade that no one should believe in, to quote:"indians generally regarded as the best players in the world..". have a heart, and face the truth.
