krishna's right

I agree with krishna abt australia's winning the world cup making the sport spread globally. As otherwise countries would think of it as a fluke game, all depending on whose good day it is to win a game, where consistency and hard efforts put in the game bears no results. No one would like to play such a game, wasting their time and money to practise. Though his idea of making sachin the keeper is hilarious and a result of short sightedness. Would u want to tire ur best batsman before he even comes out to bat? would u want to expose him to the most dangerous and injury prone job in the business? Also in my opinion its not luck that made india the runners up but excellent seam bowling by the indian trio. When they faulted, india lost.

Krishna Tunga
by AMJAD MARUF on Jun 05, 2003 08:41 AM

The reasons mentioned by Krishna Tunga as to why India reached the finals at the World cup are very childish and illogical. Why should India be faulted if other teams did not perform well, if Kenya & Zimbabwe qualified, if we got batting pitches (the opposition played on the same pitch, mind you), if other teams did not capitalise on India's disastrous tour of NZ, etc. By the same logic even we could say that since other teams did not play well, Australia won the cup. Will that be okay Mr. Krishna? India reached the finals by playing some excellent cricket and by winning against best teams. Winning nine matches in a row is not easy. Give us some better & logical analysis, Mr. Krishna.

Tunga's analysis on INDIAN TEAM
by Srinivasan .Kesavan on Jun 05, 2003 08:26 AM

My Dear Tungs

Dont make any statement and analysis like this anymore. If anyone pays you to make this kind of useless work , keep it yourslef. Any game has got its own ups and down. TRY TO LEARN APPRECIATE rather than being HYPOCRITIC. In our lovely country we have many of them like that.
Analysis can be made but in a constructive way.

Total Crap!
by Satish on Jun 05, 2003 08:05 AM

The article promised a lot in the beginning. But alas! Phew! Its a trash. Yes - statistical analysis is interesting. But none of his deductions seem anything more than what you and I can come up with.

"Political issues allowed Kenya and Zimbabwe to qualify." - a 5th grader would have concluded that.

If he really is as good as he was projected in the article - I would suggest him a profession : gambling!

I request rediff to maintain better standards in publishing articles.

Guys,

If you all don't agree with this person's views then you don't have to write all kinds of reasons you think for India's success and failure in the WC. Do not give undue importance to such publicity oriented articles. He is probably trying his luck in this field after failing(?) in all the others mentioned in the article like modeling, film-making, writing, music and what not. Stop replying to this article. Just imagine him lauhing his guts out at you guys enjoying the pleasure of having gained some publicity.

Krishna's work is intersting- however, we should concentrate on how a cricket crazy country of 1 billion people is not on top of the world of cricket, and why a country of 17million people is able to consistently dominate the game for so long!

Not expected
by Ranjeet on Jun 05, 2003 06:57 AM

An article of such mediocre standards was not expected from Faisal Shariff. What are Krishna Tunga's credentials? It is very easy to say that India rejected him as a scorer through some archaic system of selection. And his reasons for India's success at the World Cup simply give away is moderate understanding of the game.

It would be great if a reputed site like rediff screens articles before exhibiting them.
