I endorse Tunga's theory (of India making it to the final). The 2003 World Cup will go down in the history of cricket as one of the most wierdest.
How could one explain, a bunch of no-hopers, who were battered and bruised down under by Stephen Fleming's motley crew, reach the final! Had it not been for the points laid down by Tunga, India wouldn't have made it that far.

I guess ur fundamentals on cricket are as bad as this dude. India did better as the wickets were different. Who says that wickets that support lateral movement are the best for cricket. SA wickets were more true and hence better performance. NZ did better than india as they have 10 batsmen in a team and in a low scoring match, u can expect them to win against a team like India which relies on top 6 heavily.
Faisal Shariff and his 'expert' should be fired and even better removed from the news..the whole thing is pathetic and rediff should do something urgently to gain some credibility to the articles it is publishing..if ya aint hire good people to write., why dont you outsource news from some better credible news agency..how pathetic indian news standards !!!! i have been seeing people just using fancy words and whole lotta crap just because they aint got a stuff to say !!

Yup - Rediff should only hire and publish pro-Indian views and opinions. Jai Hind!
This article demonstrates the increasingly lower bar set by rediff while publishing articles. Either it is due to the lack of cricketing activities in India or due to the editors lenience, the deteoration in quality preferred over quantity is both marked and painful especially for die hard fans of rediff. The above article is mediocre at best

Really we need this for India. We have to become much better if we hvae to beat Austalia the next match.
Good, new and interesting way of looking at things. Looking at the process is the new way of doing things. They will be helpful most times than not. But, unfortunately, stats or form do not always determine results. Eg: England lost to minnows australia in a soccer match, Australia seemed to lose direction against West Indies after the fourth test loss. True, according to form and stats, Australia should have won the world cup and it did. But, then how do you explain the loses now? You do give an explanation supported by statistics like Gilly playing at No. 3 and field placings in certain overs. Do these not apply to the indian wins and loses too? Like, Rahul batting consistently at No. 5 or 6. Your way of looking at the game is interesting, sounds scientific and should receive a good look-see. Lets wait and see. Best wishes.

I agree - India has the very best team in the world. Unfortunately they rarely come together and play as a well-oiled team. We have brilliant displays of cricket from individuals one one side. While some people remain in perpetual slump - e.g. Mongia.
We need to play smart - like Australia, and like a spirited team - Kenya. Needing a Kapil Dev to help us get the World Cup.
