Why no one from Tamilnadu
by Venkat on Apr 04, 2003 01:17 PM

Tamilnadu is in the semi finals of Ranji trophy, the most respected tournement in domestic cricket in india. Other teams include Delhi and Mumbai. And among these teams only mumbai has more points than tamilnadu. Mumabi has 5 to 6 member playing for india generally. Tamilnadu has been equally consistent in performing in domestic tourneys. But no one from tamilnadu. The selectors are so biased when taking someone from Chennai. Tamilnadu will beat Karnataka 10 out of 10 times when they play. Yet there are players playing for india from karnataka but not from tamilnadu. It starts a long time back but recently Sharath has been the best batsman in the south zone for the past decade but was not given a single chance. Where as Discards like Amol Muzumdar and Vikram Rathore who had little talent were given plenty of chances. I still dont know why kanithkar was selected in the team. As for agarkar i am sure even he does not know why he is in the team. Probably because he is Sachins close friend. Cricket is professional and BCCI is the most unprofessionally run organization. L Balaji and Sriram were obvious selections for both an indian test or a one day side. Balaji is young and needs to be given some chances but that will never happen until he shifts to some other state. Then he will come on the front pages and will be termed prodigy and will be in the team. I would love to see Tamilnadu win the Ranji trophy and I would like the selectors to bury their head in shame. The most obvious incident about anti Chennai players was when Badhani was dropped. I dont know why he was dropped. The only reason could have been because he comes from Chennai. All this for a place that has an amazing history of the game and has the second strongest league cricket system in india after mumbai.

Some of the comments are ridiculous
by Fan on Apr 03, 2003 08:56 PM

I am not able to understand why people are saying no player from south zoneHere we are talking about Indian team not north zone or south zone There was time when Indian team was having 7 players from Karnataka but no one said any thing cos everyone deserved to be there or we were not having enough talent that time. But now we are having lot of talent aroundand I am happy that new guys have earned there place by their performance..so I feel this is great move by selection committee to put aside the quota system and let the best talent to be in Indian team no matters south zone or north zone intact I feel if Laxman would have been available for selection, he sould not have given the chance ..as he did nothing to earn this place in Indian team..All the best to Indian team..

Parthiv Pate's Debut
by klaul on Apr 03, 2003 05:31 PM

I thought your readers had better English speaking skills. Nowhere in the article does it state that Parthiv Patel will debut in this series. All it says that Parthiv will finalll get a chance (after sitting out for a while, presumably).
I hope people put in some though before they post these messages ...... Komal

Dude, you obviously haven't seen him play. He's awesome and the amazing thing is he still has his whole career ahead of him. This is a good opportunity for him to gain some experience. Besides, batting isn't all to do with power and muscle, you have to have style and technique as well, something Parthiv sure doesn't lack! Give him a chance, he's proven himself good enough to play on the team and indeed I and many others believe that he has what it takes to be the next big star. Not only is he a natural, he's got the enthusiasm and sportsmanship needed to succeed. All I can say is, rock on Parthiv! We all love you :)

yuvraj captaincy...
by D V S Pavan Kumar on Apr 03, 2003 12:19 PM

Selectors saying that yuvraj short tenure as captain in irani trophy wasn't successfull is rubbish.I think he is/should be the next captain of india, as he has the right kind of temperament, attitude and body language to be a captain.

Where is Rayudu?
by Mithun on Apr 03, 2003 12:10 PM

What has happened to Rayudu? Shouldn't he have been in the team? He is easily THE most talented youngster in the country.
