this is nonsense
by redfid on Mar 04, 2011 10:16 AM

survey.. in france, people get almost 30 days of paid leave..have to work only for 8 hrs per day..that too leave at 5 pm..take 6 months of maternity leave..no pressure to deliver work schedule.. dont come during weekends or stay till 11 pm as in india..
i think india or china or japan will easily fit into the top 3..as these are the 3 countries that take work very seriously..for other countries, work is secondary..
this is absolute nonsense survey to have the developed nations in this list..
everyone knows that the developed nations are surviving by the hard labour of developing nations..

the studyis fully illogical
by rajeev s on Mar 04, 2011 10:14 AM

concluding that not taking leave means hardworkers is just like concluding that all people who do not eat food every 4 hours are obese. so very illogical and the rediff is so immature to publish such reports. what if a person is very intelligent and does all the weeks work in a day and then goes and do what he wants for the rest of the days does it mean he is not a hard worker

World's 15 most hard working nations

The parameters used for this survey are wrong. It is not important how many holidays or what percent of people use the holiays or how many hours are spent on duty. It is important how many hours are truely productive. In this respect Japan, China, South Korea and all the European countries score over us. And their strong economy is a proof for this. However, this survey may encourage others to invest in India that may boost our economy. We in turn, can try to be sincere to ourselves and to our work.

Australia...
by Santosh on Mar 04, 2011 10:10 AM

Surprised to see Australia...

The average working hours per week is 37.5 and the employee can avail holidays for about 45 days in a year...!!!

There will be a paid parental leave for about 350 days...

When there is a public holiday in the weekend then the holiday would be given on the monday of next week.

There are 10 public holidays in a year.

No doubt Australia is the best country to work... !!!

Donno on what basis the survey is done.
