Great to hear About Mr.Aziz.He has done a commendable job by providing every possible help to richshaw wallahs.Hat's off to you and may the vision continues in other fields...
Rickshaw is the most environment friendly public transport available. I was not surprised when two university students from Holland found it an amazing product and bought 5 of them for their campus. they said that they would start a rental service in the campus. When will Indians start believing in themselves and not keep following the western concepts, which are not always the best.

I have not seen cycle rickshaws anywhere in South, and not even in Gujrat and Maharashtra. Only auto-rickshaws run there. Its impossible to revive cycle rickshaws in places where it has been wiped out.
Either supporting this to save world from Global Warming we are laughing on this. And once again this kind of things coming from my great country India! India is great but not the few Indian's! who are spoiling the things!
Mr. Alam's business can work only in North India, because only their these cycle rickshaws still exist. For example, there are no cycle rickshaws anywhere in Maharashtra or any of the southern states. Cycle rickshaws are pollution free but their rides are quite oppressive on the rickshaw wallah. Most of the rickshaw wallahs in the Northern cities of Kanpur, Lucknow, Jalandhar, Delhi, etc. look very weak.

You only feel embarrassed or ashamed to be an Indian. What you have done for this country. Running away to USA for luxurious life and blaming the Indians about the poverty. Soon or later you will be ashamed of your ancestors who are being Indians as well. Your nick Idli/Rasam seems an embarassing nick. I am ashamed to know you were an Indian :)

Anyone who ever gets ashamed of inheritance by birth - family, relatives, country, language, and so on - will always live in inferiority complex no matter where he goes. US or on Moon. You deserved to be ashamed. Shame on you.

Oh...and US has no junkies/hoodies so to speak of? And nobody drinks or smokes in the God given country that you are so proud to live in? hello mister I_live_in_the_US; these guys earn their livelihood with their own hard work and are perhaps very different and better off than jerks that think that this is a lowly life.

If you can not appriciate some one's work, at least be quite. Living life in a so called great society does not give licence to anybody to say whatever he likes.

I appreciate your views. Being a India we should be proud that One IIM alumnus who working for the rural development.
Govt constructs houses for Beggar,in other words "Real culprit of nation, most of the beggars begs because they are shameless and want easy money". This man has done a superb job by extending support to undertrodden and poor but willing to work hard people of this nation. When Govt is working for creating Vote bank only, this man is making nation stronger by eliminating poverty and creating an army of hard workers. Hats off to you: Alam. You are Hero of this nation. USA can not eliminate our poverty it is like you enterpreneur who can do this. Kudos to you.
Well there are comments who hate it some like it, some simply envious as they are not called to US. We take great pride in our so called invention Cars, trucks, planes, industries, Computers etc etc but these things are polluting the atmosphere its choking the whole world. Have a look around last 100yrs of industrialization has ruined the earth planet which never happened in time innumerable. And how long with the stocks last of oil or uranium or coal? well surely not more than 150-200yrs not any one of us will be here but what are we giving to our children and grand children’s and great great grand children? A polluted water, polluted air, polluted land and how will he survive? Well few will comment saying that who cares well its just simply being envious what would have happened if our grandparents would have thought that way. We will have to drive this one day or the other in Uk many professional drive a cycle to the office does that mean they are disgrace to UK?
We need to learn from Mr. Alam, to look beyond ourselves. Our problem is that we never give a thought to people who are less privileged than us; to the problems faced by our countrymen. Our problems are because of callousness of others. And we fall in the "others" category for others. I appreciate Mr. Alam's efforts and wish him all the success.
