CRATION OF VULNERABLE ECONOMY
by Khadir on Mar 07, 2009 12:42 PM

I AM SHIFITING FROM REPLY MAIN MESSAGE TO GET THE VIEW POINT OF MANY ON THIS.

MISTAKES SO FAR DONE

1. ANY ECONOMY IS ULTIMATE HUMAN CONSUMPTION.WHEN INDIA ITSELF HAS A HUGE POPULATON IF THE ECONOMY IS BUILD BASED MUCH DOMESTIC DEMAND AND REASONABLE EXTERNAL THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

2. THERE SHOULD BE BALANCE BETWEEN SERVICE AND OTHER CORE SECTORES LIKE MANUFACTURING , AGRICULTURE , INFRASTRUCTURE ETC.

3.YOU NEED TO BE IN THE HIHER VALUE CHAIN.NOT IN THE MASS NON VALUE AREAS. YOU NEED TO BE IN TECHNOLOGY OR OTHER SECTORS WHERE YOU HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF NON REPLACABLE. (For example our so called great Narayanamoorthy with highly qulaified engineers he is doing very low profile job. That force could have been used to compete with microsoft etc in tech. Like TATA is doing against Suzuki etc)

4 THE SOCALLED GREATE ECNOMISTS LIKE MMS/PC/AHULVALIA HAVE NOT FORSEEN THIS DANGER ( UNFORTUNATELY IN THEIR TEXT BOOKS THERE IS NO PORTION FOR THIS. AS THIS IS COMMONSENSE) AND CREATED A VULNARABLE ECONOMY.

5.ADDING OIL TO FIRE OUR FOREIGN INFLOW POLICY OF ALLOWING IN SECONDARY SHARE MARKET HAS ADDED TO THIS VULNERABILITY.

6. TODAY INDIA IS LITTLE BIT SAVED BECAUSE OF OUR EARLIER POLICIES. PC CAN NOT CLAIM CREDIT . THIS IS INSPITE OF HIS HARM

OBAMANOMICS
by sandip dutta on Mar 07, 2009 12:36 PM  | Hide replies

The Famous speech" Yes we can" still rings bells to our ears.Personally, I did not have much confidence--He is a great Orator and his protectionism policies are apt in his home turf--and we will see hordes of Indians and Chinese flying back home. You will feel the pinch in Obama's Foreign Policies too---He will harp on India being a natural ally and then Indians will find themselves to be natural aliens to USA.It is a grim situation--The Phoren Returned Indians can make a huge difference to the Indian Economy by way of their superior and latest knowledge and skills--The Indian Govt, should help them with Incentives and sops--with a rider that they are to serve their motherland for at least 5 years( so that they do not rush back to PHOREN countries, once the economy recovers--Like the true opportunist we are.Regards Sandeep Dutta,Kolkata

by Amit on Mar 07, 2009 12:36 PM  | Hide replies

Greed has put indian High tech sector at risk not Obama, you see all these big wigs of IT like Raju are totally corrupt and do not invest proper amount on Research , so when the good times were there they just looted , now do not blame Obama for this , if u have any brain cells left that is .........

I 100% agree to this statement. It is Obamas responsibility ts save his country's financial mess. Even employees from central govt and state govt leave their job to make fortune and work abroad. Shame on these people. We will do the same what Obama did if we face the same problem................

H1 B or Student Visas Drive Innovation
by Argumentative Indian on Mar 07, 2009 12:31 PM

Is this statement ".. these highly trained immigrants do fuel a disproportionate portion of US innovation", factually accurate?

Do the H1 - B visa holders, largely doing implementation and customization of ERP / Financial Services software / systems really fuel disproportionately high innovation?

Did Sergei Brin enter the US on an H1 B Visa AND THEN ENROL IN ONE OF THE US' GREATEST UNIVERSITIES before he co - founded Google?

I thought, the kids going to the US on student Visas, pursuing higher studies in the US and thereafter working in the US fuel disproportionate innovation.

Any views / opinions?

Right decision by OBAMA
by Amit on Mar 07, 2009 12:27 PM  | Hide replies

OBAMA's decision is absolutely correct , for any country including india is to provide jobs to its citizens first then to others. In any case when 500,000 americans are loosing jobs monthly we cannot critisize Obama for this move. Also for last 15 years indian IT companies including the one i work for should have made more investment in Research , instead they totally depent on US for this and work only on ready to use paltforms, i guess they missed a great opportunity to make india in to an innovation center and must pay for it now......

Yes Amit, We Love to play blame games. Never realised that we are depending on someone. We have enough time to come out of this. Our new generation should learn from this current situation and should avoid risking their future.

his pre election manifesto , and has to take care of his people first .
Our Indians are a big Greedy fellows,
They want all shops shipped to India as well as they go to USA and eat their jobs

I can't even begin to comment on your baby speak. The way some people kill grammar says a lot about their understanding of the issue specific. In this particular context there is nothing for a noob to 'articulate' or otherwise.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SURAT WILL HAPPEN ALL OVER INDIA !! IT IS NOT THAT INDIA GOT THE EXCESS MONEY THRU" BPO BUT IT HAS GOT A OVER DOSE OF MONEY.IF ONE LOOKS CAREFULLY INTO IT WHAT THE EXCESS MONEY HAS DONE TO INDIAN CULTURE. HAVING WORKED FOR FOUR YEARS YEARS WITH BPO,MY EXPERIENCE HAS NOTHING TO APPRECIATE EXCEPT MONEY. YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS HAVE FORGOTTEN TO RESPECT ELDERS,THEY HAVE SAID BYE TO DISCIPLINE OF LIFE AND ON TOP OF IT ALL BOAST OF PROFESSIONALISM. TO BE VERY TRUE,INDIA WILL HAVE TO RESTART ALL OVER AGAIN IF IT HAS TO MAINTAIN ITS STATUS IN THE WORLD AS A RESPECTED DEMOCRACY.ALL THE MAJOR CITIES MENTIONED BY YOU HAVE BECOME HUBS OF ILLEGAL FLESH TRADES AND PUB CULTURE IS TAKING OVER EVERYWHERE. IF THIS IS WHAT BPO CAN PROVIDE WHAT USE IS THE MONEY.INSTEAD OF PROGRESS, A SILENT KILLER IS EMERGING IN CITIES KNOWN AS STRESS,WHICH WILL WEAKEN THE WHOLE OF INDIA OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN THIS BPO MONEY WILL BE OF NO USE.SO THE BEST THING FOR INDIA IS TO START LIVING NOT DREAMING OF FANTASIES. LOOK WHAT AMERICA HAS ACHIEVED. CAN SOMEBODY CLARIFY INSPITE OF SO CALLED TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS MADE BY HUMAN,WHY IT HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY RESPITE TO HUMAN BEINGS.WHAT WE SEE EVERYWHERE IS CHAOS,CHAOS AND CHAOS.I THINK THE WHOLE IDEA OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS IS TO BE RECONSIDERED IF AT ALL IT HAS HELPED HUMAN BEING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.MAY GOD BLESS INDIA !!
