ALL PLAY AND NO WORK FOR BABUS
by rakesh mehra on Oct 11, 2007 10:22 AM  | Hide replies

Hi,
The babus have done it again. Now they want their pay scales to be increased to meet private sector levels. The corruption in IAS/IPS is so rampant that they can afford international salaries. The latest example is former chief secretary of UP Mr AP Singh.and nothing ever happens to the guilty if he is IAS.Among the central government services, only the defence forces need get pay hike which will be thwarted by the babus again.

PAY SCALE

When the Officers at the lowest level & middle level goes on tour to Delhi they get about Rs500 as expenses that include Hotel Charges for one day.How can one stay at a decent hotel at Delhi on Rs500/-. Naturally the Officer will look for other illegal means to cover his expenses.

I do not think that corruption exists in the Civil Services to cover their travel expenses. If that was true then they would have done the country a great service. If that was the case, we can do away their salaries also!!!

regarding 6th pay commision
by saumitra mazumdar on Oct 11, 2007 10:20 AM

Everybody thinks that he should have a great lifestyle and secured future. Govt. jobs provide security but in the negetive side drags the officials towards corruptions due to low salaries. It is not only the question of Civil servants which should be addressed by 6th pay commision, but whole nation should be addressed. Proper economics should be studied then only commision should infer to some solution. Everybody will agree that Civil Servants have more work pressure than their couterparts in the private sector, so they deserve salary hike. But salary hike of only elite officers will hamper the morale of other officers and only civil servants can't drive the whole country.

Pay scale
by Sandeep khaitan on Oct 11, 2007 10:11 AM

This issue is pertinent... The work has to be productivity, efficiency, output, original thinking and above all responsibility based. The best brains should find it challenging and rewarding to be in govt service...This will of course improove the position of the babus and perhaps lead to greater honesty in dealings. This has to be done in combination of a larger stick to deal with percieved cases of corruption. That market salaries are paid will be inevitable if the best brains are to work honestly... but will greed have barriers or with the hunger satiate will be a perpetul question.. perhaps if greater transperency is imbibed in the system the if will be the best concoction.

Would they
by adn on Oct 11, 2007 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

If this has to get accepted, then they should also be responsible and accountable for their post. This would mean, just like the Private Sectors, they too can be fired at any point of time. Would they have the guts to accept this clause........... NAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!

Yes, you are absolutely right. There should be more accountability and stricts targets for them and the concept of hire and fire should apply in the Govt. sector also.Otherwise comparison should not be made with Private sector.

I say they would be better off, atleast for the people who want to be honest and efficient, it justifies their belief that they can lead a good life and still work for the country, this is absolutely necessary.
