Real facts...

This is what we need to realize. SRT is gr8 but what Dravid has done for India make him greater. You can compare the stats but can't compare the importance of stats. When going was tough only Dravid managed to survive. A selfless team man who always sacrificed himself for team cause. SRT never left his comfort zone even when team wanted him. Still he is ruining the team balance by sticking to opening slot in ODIs. Albert Einstein: 'What is right is not always popular and what is popular is not always right.'

oh, common!lets agree this fact.dravid is not fit for ODI/T20 cricket. He had the luxury of better strike players like tendulkar, sehwag& yuvraj ahead of him to win matches and to compensate for his pathetic strike rate in ODIs.i agree T20 is not a yardstick to measure cricketing standards but you need a better expertise/talent to shine in ODIs.
Tests do not mean u have to switch to slow scoring mode.
Look at many gr8s who have played this game and look at their strike rate.

Only if one scores, the pressure will mount on the bowling side and the field would be spread.
If one adopts Dravid approach, the opposition would always feel like they have a chance to pick wickets and
batsmen would always be surrounded by close in fielders, thereby putting more pressure on the batting side.
Also batsman at the other end would end up getting frustrated bcoz of such players and would eventually throw away their wickets.. Rotation of strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking is the key to success.
Also the more batsman try to inhibit their natural game, the more susceptible they will be.

Dravid needs to be told in no uncertain terms that he would have maintain a healthy strike rate or else leave the game for other players.

nonsense

I am the same age group of these guys Dravid and Sachin.
Its nonsense to compare Dravid and Sachin. Both are great in their own rights. Dravid was sucessful because of the quality in the team and the team members that followed him in the batting order after he arrived. But when Sachin came into picture in 1989, there was no team it was just sachin. thats the reason we were all ardent fans of him. We never cared whether we won or lost but just loved and waited to watch sachin play.
Dravid is like Ponting. Even ponting had a great lineup after him and hence he was confident. You can see the difference last couple of years when all the other team members are gone .. ponting is exposed. Yes he would have scored lots of runs in the recent series .
Also test matches are not won by batting but by balling performances. You can see what happened in australia and england .. dravid has scored 3 centuries in england but still india lost 4-0 ..
coming to your point of sachin cribbing on 194, everyone knows Dravid did it at the behest of Ganguly. If Dravid kept wickets .. sachin took wickets ..
why didnt dravid give up one down position to laxman .. even after he scored 281 against australia .. and how successful was dravid in openers slot or in 6 down ?
So dont draw these parallels. Just write about their greatness ..
Draw a parallel between dravid/ponting/Kallis.

You are a funny man. This article has been the only one which has given the right perspective till date. If test cricket is the best form of cricket, then Dravid is ahead of tendulkar by miles. No doubt in that

you are correct. its the right perspective of the author .. and not mine .. you should never draw comparisions between 2 people in any walk of life .. how many miles is dravid ahead .. tell me how did u measure them ..
just enjoy ur idol as long as he is playing and stop . dont compare ..

Both are world class players. Sachin is the best for the one dayers and Dravid is the best for Test cricket. That ends the matter.

Yes, but according to the article greatness is not measured by ODIs but measured only by test performances. So Dravid is greater than Sachin?
