India's Debacle
by Ashish Agarwal on Jan 29, 2012 01:08 PM  | Hide replies

Yes, I agree with Sehwag. But the problem behind the india's debacle in test match against England & Australia was the mind set. the mind set of indian team has become weak because the opening combination of Gambhir and Sehwag is out of form and they have not given any single 100 patnership which is costing india to loose the test as white wash so i request the selectors to give rest to the openers and bring new openers.

how about the australian opening batsmen - they failed many times and marsh at no.3 failed all times.

27/4 at melbourne
84/3 - sydney
3 quick wickets lost at adelaide i both innings

that is no excuse for the middle order to fail - and dhoni? he just cant bat outside the subcontinent

IPL and easy money are to blame for sure

Why is everyone after Dravid and Laxman only?
Dravid was the leading run scorer in 2011 with 3 hundreds in England vs the best swing bowlers.
Laxman has been poor in both aus and Eng.
BUT WHY ON EARTH IS MEDIA NOT TALKING OF SACHIN?
HE CHOSE IPL OVER WI TOUR , FLOPPED MISERABLY IN ENG , AND AVERAGED ONLY 35 IN AUS.
THE MEDIA PEOPLE INCLUDING FORMER CAPTAIN SAURAV WANTS TO GET THEIR MILEAGE AND MONEY FROM SACHIN'S 100TH 100 . OTHERWISE THE YARDSTICKS OF JUDGEMENT MUST BE SAME FOR ALL.

veeru should be sacked
by Don Tex on Jan 29, 2012 12:40 PM  | Hide replies

It was clear the way he batted and got out every time on this Australian tour that he did not care what happened to the team. I can understand if a player having an off-day gets out cheaply but a player who is playing well throws his wicket *every* *single* *time* it shows what he considers his role in the team to be. He is out there to see what happens - he is not out there to give his best and contribute to the team. I think IPL is the best tonic for such guys - whether you lose or win in test cricket your bank balance does not change. But in IPL look at these same guys - they will perform because their next year's bid will depend on it! IPL has destroyed Indian test cricket for sure!

I am not blaming Sehwag for his captaincy. He threw his wicket every single time inspite of being in good nick. As a senior player he has to play his part - otherwise his experience is not worth anything. I am not defending Laxman or Dravid here - in fact Laxman has always been given a longer rope than anyone else I can remember simply because his timing is superb and his bat makes a sweet sound with the ball - how about scoring those runs when the team needs them and doing it consistently? How long can the Calcutta rescue act carry him? He should have been dropped long long ago in my opinion. For Dravid I can't use the same criticism but definitely a person of his values should I either get back into his form or recognize that his reflexes are no longer what they used to be - Ganguly went through this struggle and made a spectacle of himself (remember his pathetic appeal to the viewers "Dada ko nahi bolenge na?" - he belittled his glorious stint as a captain by doing all that). People who have enjoyed the super stardom have a difficult time living with the fact that they have stopped performing and that it is time for them to make a graceful exit! It must be tough but then it ends things in such an unpleasant manner for them as well as their most ardent fans!

in 1994 ashes in australia, england had gooch aged 41, gatting aged 37. Atherton did not want these senior citizens in the team but the then chairman of selectors had is way in and england lost the ashes 3-1. border, steve waugh, mark waugh were all to be eased out if they did not announce their retirement.

age does not spare anyone. once over 35, one's years are numbered in cricket. it is better for dravid/laxman/sachin to announce their retirements rather can cut a sorry figure test after test.

as for sachin, 99 centuries is a monumental achievement and is no disgrace if he doesnt reach 100. After all, even the great Don retired at 99.94 average

Shewag is a cricketer without a technique and should be shown the door; his cricketing knowledge is worst and doesn't understand the game at all

by Sowri Rajan on Jan 29, 2012 12:04 PM

Dear Mr. Sehwag, Indian cricket fans say that 'It happens every time' and not It happens to every team. Inability to handle raw pace and swing bowling is rightly exposed now. Instead of going back to the basics, you guys talk about other teams doing badly, etc. Suggest Sachin/Dravid/Laxman/Gambhir and you pack your bags and go back to the nets. Give chances to the budding youngsters.

Groupism comes into picture if one is not performing and taking all the credit of the team, which is true with Dhoni..... once this fellow became captain he bats as if he wants to be in bed with his wife as soon as possible and does not contribute a bit with his bat.... so naturally people who have been contributing or who will contribute tend to find it odd and start disrespecting the leader..... It is time to kick off this unreliable captain out of the team along Sehwag and Gambhir.

Every man has good days and bad days. Mr Veeru played well in almost all the games. After all he is also human being and tends to loose some times.
One should not take negative thing and afterall it is a game. We have to give him some more chances

This Delhi guy wants to become captain. He is aided by Gambhir, Kohli and Ishant. When you have 4 players working against a team, tell me how the team will win? Throw these 4 guys out of Indian Team first. This is the real reason for India's loss.

Kick out this fellow along with Gambhir and Dhoni and see how good the team performs. These people lack confidence and more bent towards acting and they are grounding the morale of the team by not performing at the top and Dhoni not contributing as a captain !!!! Shame shame.
