I do accept that we are in the 21st Century; acceptance of this comment would work as a licence / catalyst to have premarital sex for Indian / Tamilian youngsters, I dont think any parents / blood relations would like this.

No one needs any licence to have premarital sex and parents/blood relations indulge in these things themselves. Teach the male children to respect women first. These sons grow up int antisocial elements, who cheat and rape/molest women.
To all gentlemen(avik;GIRI m and others), i ud like to hilight two points: 1)agreed; that pre marital sex is in thing; but certainly u donot become an Avante Garde by accepting and applauding it
2)secondly; i guess most of the people who must have protested belong to a section of society which is till to accept these changes ; and guided by a few jingoistic leaders who must have hired them or instigated them by right or wrong means. may be if me; or anyone of u ; ud have belonged to that section ; we ud have reacted in the same manner.

Biased parties have instigated women to take up "brooms" against Khushboo simply to control her. This is only for political/ulterior motive to harass Khushboo, not because she has advised women to take precautions during pre-marital sex. She has only asked women to be careful, and is doing the nation the biggest service. As a woman, she understands that women need to have enough knowledge to protect themselves from the sexual predators around them. She has used her celebrity status to reach out to these uneducated (not in the literal sense), blackmailed & ill treated women and is doing her part to make our nation disease free and have fewer abandoned children from unwanted pregnancies. Kudos to Khushboo, and hope everyone realizes their stupidity and stop bothering her.

Joe, dont tell me u never had pre-marital sex or atleast dreamt of it. If any guy says so, its either lack of courage to ask a girl out or lack of chances. The only thing to be done seriously is safe-sex which people forget..

Tamilians are most hypocritical at the very least. Do you men think about the women you have used and thrown away and then demanding virgins at the time of your marriage??? You can not even allow women to speak their mind, what kind of creatures you all are??? If Khushboo can not state her opinions what kind of freedom of speech do women in India have? She is only asking women to be careful. I would go one step further and advise all Indian women to abstain from sex because this is the one and only thing which makes men blackmail women. If they dont have sex, they will not become pregnant or get diseases from the sick men from Tamil Nadu and from all over India. Go figure.

This is in reply to Joe's post: What is wrong if your mom introduced her BF with whom she has had whatever??? Looks like you are talking about your own hypocrisy and your own culture in which you do everything before marrying the one you are doing it to, but if it is your mom who is doing it, it is unacceptable. But if you can do whatever you like with whoever you want, you have no right to question the morality of anyone else. So either you & your tamilian friends stop screwing around, or shut up already.

We r living in 21 st century ofcourse.... dear non-Tamilian just tell me one thing.... what would u do if your mom introduces her boy friend with whom she had premarital sex..... haang?
dont speak just to speak... we are talking about values.... not about bodily pleasure......
The ones waving brooms on the streets are stupid. Once they get back home, their drunkard husbands would come and beat them!! They will sit and accept that husband is God. B.S....
One small question to all these useless political parties. There have been reports of crores and crores of corruption and swindling in our country. Have you even once thought about staging a similar protest opposing that. We always make a big deal about nothing and make nothing a big deal.
But, having said that, Kushboo must have had better choice of words. 'Have safe sex..' would have conveyed what she wanted to... Even if we didnt figure in Olympics medals list, we are topping the AIDS list. So, advocacy for safe sex is a must..

If Khushboo can not state her opinions what kind of freedom of speech do women in India have? She is only asking women to take precautions if they are involved in sexual activities. I would go one step further and advise all Indian women to abstain from sex (married or not). It is the only thing which makes men blackmail and ill-treat women. If womne refuse to have sex, they will not become pregnant or get diseases from the men with sick mind and bodies.
What ever we say on media will be on Hot talks, we need to take care of the script ...... There are lot of Indian Families who maintains Good Culture , Discipline and Character if they are in US also. So, Pls take care.
I don't think there's anything wrong in kushboo's words. The people who are protesting are not open minded. For them, they can sleep with anybody without the knowledge of others, but they can't accept it in the open. We should expect fidelity only after we are committed to a relationship. If kushboo had supported EXTRA-MARITAL SEX, I would have been the first one to oppose her. She didn't support that. It's good to avoid pre-marital sex, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I have abstained from pre-marital sex. But I wouldn't say it's wrong. I am not supporting those who visit the brothels. I only support the "love" we make with our girl/boy friend with whom we have a committment. I personally don't think there's anything wrong in involving in a physical relationship when there's a committment between the opposite sexes. Whatever is going on in Tamil Nadu is just politically motivated. Nobody who's educated will oppose such OPEN OPINIONS. You would have seen the people who are protesting in the streets waving brooms and slippers. How can we expect OPEN-MINDEDNESS from such people?
For all those "Tamizh Penngal" who are so offended by Kushboo's comments on pre-marital sex...Wake up and get a life!! Are we living in a democracy or a dictatorial society? She, as a citizen of India, has every right to say what she wants. It's not like every woman in south India would start practising promiscuity based on her "green-lighting" pre -marital sex...or are you all so gullible to take her every statement as a motto???
There are other issues that plague the south-Indian and Indian society regarding women. These include heinous crimes like rape, domestic violence, and female infanticide. Go and raise your banner against people who commit such crimes against women and let Kushboo have her say, no matter how useless it may be.
