i want to know what all those stupid "pseudo" nationalist will say now. Now that Obama has a hanuman as one of his lucky charm has them going "gaga". What connection has it to India. There is a lady in India who has sacrificed more for India than Obama has and they cant get over that she comes from outside and India and cant connect to her. All these hypocrites, hats off to them. Obama is not to going to convert to Hinduism and if he is going to flaunt all these multi religion in the presidential race he is not going to win. All these "pseudo" desi's should know that America is a Christian Nation adn you are here because its so. If American's demanded that loyalty is proved by he same yardstick by which RSS,VHP and BJP think all others in India should prove, then it would be fun. On Sonia's so called sacrifice. Only people who have sacrificed are Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Scindhia, Pilot..what has Sonia sacrificed? Valmiki did not write Ramayan, he NARRATED it ... he was alive during the time of Ramayan, in fact Ram's sons - Luv and Kush were born in his ashrama , the Sage Valmiki met Ram, Sita, Hanuman - all the characters ...
Plus the proof of ram is all over India in the form of geographically annotated places like Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Kishkinda, Rameswaram ...
(even Ram Setu - you should refer to the report by Geological Survey of India, which was presented before Madras High Court and it ruled that Ram Setu was man-made, in the Supreme Court WITHOUT ANY EXCAVATIONS, the ASI said it was natural - thus the controversy - anyway, new excavations will take place and the truth will prevail)
But since these events took place 6500 years ago (yes, recent astronomical studies pin-point the exact dates) people started identifying these as mythology more than History !

RAM SETU IS INDEED MAN-MADE !
That was the conclusion based on the scientific study made BY Geological Survey of India and which was tabled before the High Court of Madras, which declared it man-made ... This study did actual excavations, the ASI report did not do any excavations ... how can that report be accepted ?
The GSI study concluded on the basis of 3 facts .... 1) the sedimented rocks on ram setu are of different origin than the sea-bed rocks 2) the rocks are similar to that part of the coast of rameswaram from where it was said in Valimiki Ramayan that the rocks were brought by Hanuman and his army 3) these Rocks have a more sharp edges, showing that chiselling or some form of human modification was done before putting the rocks there! (in ramayan, its mentioned that Nal & Neel were 2 members of the army who actually worked on these stones before depositing them)
Cant these be accepted as irrefutable proof : geographical evidence matching with said history ! WHAT MORE PROOF RATIONALISTS WANT ?????
Such coherent proof is not found to proof that Muhammed indeed went to Jerusalme flying on a donkey ! Such coherent proof is not found to proof that Saint Jesus Christ is indeed buried at the Church built by Constatntine' mother !

Khanna, There is no "controversy", as you put it, about Jesus' birth year. Incidentally, just because a doubt is raised do not render it controversial. First, Jesus was not born in 1 AD. The year, for your information, would be O, not BC or AD. Second, it's not 4 AD, but 4 BC. Third, you are mistaken. It's anytime between 4 BC and 6 BC. Fourth, scholars know how the mistake arose. A thousand years ago, people did not have the means we have today of calculating dates. Or the scholarship to examine documents. With time, we learn many new things (in different fields) that impinge on our cherished notions. And then we (not all of us) do not want to give up our cherished notions. After all, how can we? We have "believed" them for 30, 40 50, 60 years. How can we have the honesty to say we were wrong. So what if the GSI declared something. So what if "actual excavations" were done. (Your quote of "actual excavations" seems to be used to browbeat us.) Actual excavations aren't the only means of proof. Newer methods of looking into something might throw up a different perspective. You don't seem to consider all these aspects. And that betrays your prejudice.

Yes but these 200 years have also worked in USA's favor. Democracy may not be the perfect way of administration but its the lesser of known Devils. At least, people are responsible for their own actions and have a chance to correct the course of it, the way they will do it in these upcoming elections in US. If autocracy worked, Pakistan would be way ahead of India by now. Regarding China, it only lets you see what it wants you to see. Huge swaths of Chinse rural areas are poverty stricken and have no access to the world audience. Democracy at least let you see the reality.

Fareed Zakaria- another empty suit and smooth talker without substance. He shows it is so easy to fool Americans.
His famous article just before Iraq war when Bush was asked to ponder before jumping into fire, I am paraphrasing- 'if you have taken the sword out, you have to use it'--urging Bush to war. And the consequences are here for everyone to see. Now he kind of plays with words that he was not for the war---yada yada yada..
Now he comes on CNN and public television--well they deserves him.

Can you please tell me as to when the decision was made to go to war In Iraq? If you follow politics here you would know the right answer.
Its not Fareed Zakarias understanding of the world its about us watching different opinions on variuos current affairs in the world. Also, Can you please mention any other program may be excpet BBC and PBS(NOW) that covers Global Perspective on TV in USA? We cant be fooled so easily.

Good for you that you are learning stuff here .... Jindal converted when he was in High school .. he must have liked something about christianity to do so. He wasn't forced with a gun to do so.
Religion is a personal thing ... your faith is totally yours and it's your choice ... we should respect everyone else's faith.

Bobby Jindal's faith is his personal preference. There is freedom of religion in the US as it is in India. Jindal converted when he was in High school .. and no one held a gun to his head to do so.
He is a catholic, he believes in catholisism but he has never spit on Hundus or insulted Hinduism. Never!

You are a funny guy, Loan Shark- Yes, I admit Jindal's himage to jesus is not my business- But it is a fact that he does not want to be associated with Desis. So much so, he did nothing about the 3 Indians students murdered in his own city. As a Governor, he could have shown some interest.

In your logic- if a guy leaves his mother and adopts another lady as his mom, that is not spittingon his mother? Same logic applies here for casting Hinduism away-- that is to me like spitting on all Hindus.

1. I don't have any connections to find and speak with Jindal's parents .... besides, I have no desire or see any commanality of interest with them old people.
2. Switching mom's is different. Even though Lord Krishna had two mothers ... he did not mean disrespect to his biological mother.
Adopting religion is different. You and I folow Hinduism because we were born that way .. we never applied our mind to anything out there which can be better for us ... it's personal ... Jindal found his place in catholisism and he joined them ...
Jindal has never insulted Hindus or Hinduism ever. has he?

Yes.Jindal applied his mind well and embraced the benifits that comes with converting to catholisism. Why do'nt you also apply your mind for a better thing like him?Afterall who's stopping you? But do'nt try to preach others about what could better for them.
