Absurd
by Shahid Kazi on Apr 21, 2006 12:23 AM  Permalink

What next ?? holding hands ?? talking to opposite sex or staying closer than 2 metres to ur partner in public.. utter nonsense.. in a country which is already too over crowded, where the hell is the space ??? if u have any problems dont look or stop visiting places where u see such people.. and if u have the thought in ur mind as to why should i stay away ... the couples too have to rightfully ask why should we ???? isnt it hypocratic of the culture to reate the ultimate book of love and then curtail the best emotion of love... its just that people here are afraid to let go of the past and live in the shadows of the toughts of the old rather than open their minds and accept reality of moving on with times.. rs 500 ?? nothing but production of mind who is too scared to think for themselves and stick to the thoughts of the old.. its absurd who would want to get stuck in the past... plainly absurd

To kiss or not to kiss
by Prasad on Apr 21, 2006 12:12 AM  Permalink

If we start banning couples from kissing in public and enforce reservations in the private sector, I dont ever see India achieving its goal of becoming a developed nation. There are more critical issues to take care of than morality. We must learn to not meddle in others' affairs. What wrong can a couple do by displaying their affection in public ? We need to act and behave mature.

Are you sure it is kissing not pissing?
by Anirban on Apr 21, 2006 12:05 AM  Permalink

In India kissing in public is banned but not pissing is okay? - read somewhere in the web.

this reminds me of a joke:

In a city in some foreign country the mayor is imposing a strict ban on pissing in public and violator are to arrested and subjected to strict punishment. One evening he was returning from work and he saw a man pissing on the sidewalk. So he sent his personal gaurd to arrest that man and put him in jail immidiately. Howewer the guard came running back after a few minutes......and said panting, "Sir, we can't arrest him, he is an Indian and has diplomatic immunity."

Who the hell told us, Indians, that kissing was a western practice????? Anything we feel is bad or "immoral" is western and anything we find aceptable is our tradition!? When a girl is forced to have sex (raped)then its a global problem, going on since ages and saying that we accept and learn to live with it but when 2 lovers express their true, pure love then thats western! We indians so conviniently catagorize things as western and indian.
If i want to kiss my girlfriend, its out of love and love is not bound to place, situation or tradition. If we want our country to truly progress we should stop wasting time on such stupid issues and do something more meaningful. These so called "moral police" are nothing but bunch of bored, clueless and mindless idiots who think that the whole responsibility of indian culture lies on their head. Get a life losers!!!

Policing! but why?
by Mantoo on Apr 20, 2006 11:59 PM  Permalink

Is it important to police such things?

Policing is required for Police itself on their behaviour witht the masses.

Policing is require for Athorities who give permissions for illegal construction after taking bribes.

Policing is required for Ministers and MPs on their expenditure of Public money.

There are hundred more such issues which are more important than KISS. Its time for everybody think on such things. Its better to make everyone accountable.

What will happen after this rule. A police will come and demand for fine. Guilty (?) will provide him Rs.20 and then the police will be happy and he will get at least one more point to get some extra income. That is what we have seen. Everytime a new rule is imposed, police or the authority start making money out of it.

How you will police such issues.

to kisss or not to kiss
by andy on Apr 20, 2006 11:54 PM  Permalink

Thats perfectly alright
need to restrict our behavior in public
affections are best valued when displayed in appropriate place
The other restrictions are good....A ban on dancing: BAD, curfews for pubs/ nightclubs: GOOD, legal suits against nude models: extremely GOOD, a clamp down on dance bars, et al --EXCELLENT is the moral police going too far? no not all

WTF
by Shashibhushan on Apr 20, 2006 11:47 PM  Permalink

The charge of 500 will go only into the pockets of policemen as they have found a new way of making money. They cannot give the couples a challan and thereby having no record of how many lip-locked couples have been caught. Anyway if people are asking on the web to increase this amount they must be a cop themselves or children of cops so they get higher pocket money.
