writes books at the rate of one every two years.

Each one is marketed by her publisher with a great deal of promotional activities. Yet, each is forgotten almost as soon as it hits the bookstores.

Arundhati Roy wrote just one book in her life so far and she won the Booker prize for it.

Shobha De, in a fit of jealousy, had called that Booker a freak thing that happened. But her own laboured attempts to attract the attention of the Booker committee with book after book went completely in vain.

JAYANT CHATURVEDI
BMW
by JAYANT CHATURVEDI on Aug 29, 2016 05:52 PM

The first gift that Sindhu will receive is a BMW from V Chamundeshwarnath, president of Hyderabad District Badminton Association. He had gifted a BMW to Saina Nehwal when she won a bronze in 2012 and vowed to gift one to Sindhu if she wins a medal. “Before the Rio Olympics started, I had said that if anyone from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh wins a medal I will gift a BMW. I am glad, I will be presenting one to Sindhu soon,’’ said Chamundeshwarnath, a close friend of Sachin Tendulkar, who raises the money to buy the luxury cars by seeking donations from businessmen and corporates. Tendulkar who handed over the BMW from Chamundeshwarnath to Saina Nehwal in August 2012 is also likely to hand over the Beemer to Sindhu next month. Indian express 23 aug 16.

Better build sports infra for the future poor players from states
by rajesh venkatraman on Aug 29, 2016 05:52 PM

These cars would for sure be a white elephant for them to maintain, ofcourse they can afford to now by having won the prize money and other offers that are pouring in from various govts. It would be better if they could give these or pool some money to build required sports infra in some states for the poor who want to become champions in sports. There need to be a sports village in every state where qualified candidates in each sports could be trained under scholarship
