Surely Sania is World no.1 in doubles and irrespective of Girish or sAIANA OR WHOEVER whatever else.. No INDIAN women has ever been a no.1 in any field. Second leander has won Khel ratna, why no one objected. Its just biased policy in our country against a woman who thoroughly deserves this as she is an inspiration for millions...

You are swayed by the thigh of Sania; her achievement are cheap compared for Saina Nehwal she is No 1. in Individual even not like Sania who is doubles number 1. in any case Tennis doubles event are don't count for much in sports.

Secular India,I hope you remember these comments of yours regarding importance of singles and lower priority given to doubles, when the matter of Leander Paes comes up, then in his case, he is regarded as better than Novak Djokovic, or even Roger Federer. Change your name from Secular India to something more hardliner.
In India the term AWARD is always associated with controversy, be it top Bharatratna award, sport award, literature award, films awards. No awards are free of any controversy or debate. Once you put a committee of experts and approved that committee to select the deserved person for the award, then also, why we make the issue out of it? Don't we have any other serious issues to be discussed than this? If Sania Mirza was not deserving to be given this award then why they announce her name at the first place? She had not asked for it, nor she was desperate for it. Now after declaring her name, you are saying she is not deserving, then it would very discouraging and insulting for her. The best way to get out of this problem and to give justice for both players, is to give both of them this award on shared basis or if possible give both players the award. And henceforth we should stop these controversies which is always surrounded with awards, India is such a huge country with n'th number of castes, communities, languages, colours, so, always there's going to be someone happy and someone unhappy about the awards. We have to accept it and selection should be purely base on PERFORMANCE AND NOTHING ELSE.

Dear Tejas It is not the government which is going back on its decision , it is the High Court of Karnataka which has admitted a plea of another sportsman Girisha and has asked government to explain its stand. There is nothing wrong if court calls for explanation from the government on the criteria adopted for grant of Khel Ratna.
Before announcing her name it should have been clarified as to why she did not carry the Indian flag at the beijing olympics ,that is enough to cancel her name for any awards.Saina Nehwal would have been a better choice
