Federer is still the greatest
by mg on Jun 12, 2014 09:37 AM  | Hide replies

Yes, Nadal's grand slam titles tally has a disproportionate number of wins at the French open. He may break the 17 GS record, but thats got to come mainly from more FO titles than at the other GS. The Greatest is gotta be Federer, no doubt... (courtesy Rediff poll).

Rediff poll is an opinion poll...it doesn't mean anything at all.
Federer's titles tally has a disproportionate number of wins at Wimbledon but guess that's convenient for us Fede fans so lets not mention it.

Federer vs Nadal at the GSs
by Anuraug Rathor on Jun 11, 2014 05:00 PM  | Hide replies

Take GS titles at each of the slams...

At Wimbledon >>>>>>>>>>>>> Fede 7 Nadal 2
USO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fede 5 Nadal 2
FO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fede 1 Nadal 9
AO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fede 4 Nadal 1

So now its clear Nadal has only got more slams only at the FO.

Any one can win by fluke only once so its also clear that the win of Federer on clay is also a fluke

So you also admit that Nadal's Aus Open title is also a fluke, by your own logic.

By the way Fede has made it to the FO final 4 other times. He is the second best at FO in present generation of players.

Hope you understand my argument that Fede has made it to the FO finals 5 times and won it 1 time. So that 1 FO title can't be called a fluke.

There are other cases where a lone GS title can be called a fluke, but not Fede's.

Fede has performed better at all the GSs except at the FO... than Nadal... what do you have to say about that...? Don't bring the issue of fluke or not.... It doesn't hold any water.

What do you have to say for the rediff poll where majority have voted Federer as the greatest of all time, not accepting what Agassi has said? You seem to be of that 40 % odd minority people who say Nadal is the greatest.

Do you think having more friends in FB means the person is most popular? Also twitter followers is just to know the news about the person, may not necessarily vote for them.

Rafa will run out of luck and then watch the fun
by Anuraug Rathor on Jun 11, 2014 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

I would say Rafa was lucky to face a exhausted Djoko in the final.... He started feeling tiredness in the Gulbis match (semis) itself. A fully fit Djoko would have taken apart Rafa. Just wait and see Djoko will lead Rafa in H2H by the time they retire. Their H2H will be more meaningful since both are of the same age, than Fede vs Nadal H2H.

Maybe you didn't watch the Djoko vs Gulbis match... Djoko should have lost in that match itself but luckily Gulbis was also tired.

Not many have noted it. But Djoko was struck by exhaustion starting from the second set against Nadal. But Djoko didn't make it a issue post match.

If that was the case then you might not have gone through the interview that if they have played another set match could have ended in a different way.

John, if you had only watched the match you would have known what I'm talking about the FO final.... Even if Djoko was 2-0 sets up he would have the next 3 sets to Nadal... Djoko was fighting serious fatigue and exhaustion.... just wait to see the matches at cooler temperatures at Wimbledon night matches at US. Djoko doesn't seem to favour the hot day matches.

My friend i watched the match from beginning to end only thing is that Djok showed that he was exhausted and Nadal didn't even at that condition the coach says that if Nadal didn't win the third set then the match could have ended in a different way, cause just after the match when Nadal met his coach the first thing he asked is for a doctor.

If you are of that opinion, then let it be. Djoko's situation was even more grave... he was heavily fatigued and exhausted... just wait to see the other matches with Nadal at other courts ( where its not hot day).. definitley Djoko will come on top

Federer is the greatest of all-time
by rocky on Jun 09, 2014 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

Federer has more Grand slam titles in all the GSs except at the FO, compared to Nadal. So Nadal leads only at the FO, can be called the king of clay courts.... but Federer is the king of grass and hard courts. Majority rules.

Fede has been #1 for 302 weeks and Nadal is just at 138 weeks... Nadal always plays catching game and he will never be able to break the #1 weeks record. Nadal is just a clay court specialist, who happened to win a few GSs outside of it. Still Nadal lags behind Federer and Djokovic at courts other than clay.

Nadal has never won the ATP World tour finals and can never be called the greatest.

But then going by my own arguments,we can easily say Federer is a hard court specialist who happened to win a few GSs outside of hard. ATP WTF is like any other masters series and there are quite a few which Federer hasn't won so he cant be called the greatest either.I'm confused. My own arguments don't seem to hold water.

Federer has bee accepted by the greatest of all time by the recently conducted opinion poll by rediff. So you must now know whose argument don't seem to hold water.
