The Germans must be feeling relieved with the narrow win after an evenly fought match which they could have lost as well. It was really surprising to see otherwise well oiled German m/c struggling to pierce the organized ARG defence repeatedly in sharp contrast to them seen toying with the Brazilian defense a day before! On the other hand although ARG lost but they could be proud of the tough fight they put up to make it a great final. To the credit of Messi &co. they played their best match of the WC and could have even won the match if only they had capitalized on their 3-4 clear chances including one by Messi hitting wide! Lot of credit for the good show by the ARG has to be given to Messi who played his heart out in planning number of dangerous attacks on a superior Germans side. To that extent Messi certainly deserves the best footballer award the way he took his team to final and almost won it for them. One thing for sure is ARG are far superior side compared to Brazil and are the best latin American side. May be Messi will be successful next time around in 4 yrs to join Maradona in winning the WC for his country.

The final match was a touch one. Both the teams had good scoring opportunities. It was a bit of carelessness from Higuain and Palacio. Germans had a bit of luck when the Argentine defense for that minute left Mario unmarked. To my point of view the result would have been different if Di Maria was on the pitch, there was no playmaker in the Argentine side unlike all the move for Germans were lead by Bastian.
not much else went wrong with argentina.they just couldnt score from chances score could easily have been 2-1 argentina or even 2-0. almost all the matches in this world cup were true to form.only the brazil-germany 7-1 result was crazy. if that hadnt happened,argentina would have been probably winners

Or the score could have been 2-0 or even 2-1 Germany, had they taken their chances. Lets say it was a pretty even game...and ultimately Germany prevailed.
...only the brazil-germany 7-1 result was crazy... no one expected that scoreline, but most expected the result (Germany winning against Brazil)...
suffice to say, Germany who looked better throughout the tournament deserved to win.

That is an interesting point...but the point is that Argies made it to the final and great teams like Italy, Spain, holland and portugal haven't........they can be proud of themselves...Germans played better, period....
All who watched the Finals live, knows that both teams played well, had equal opportunities, and it was Goetze who was lucky to get the ball into the Argentinians goal. Nothing went wrong! Why dont you write about the beautifula way Goetze collected the bal and sent it in.That would make sense.

the final match proved German supremacy over other teams but Argentina gave nothing away to them. Argentina put a great fight. Not just Messi but whole team. Argentina got great chances but got unlucky. Similarly Germans also got good chances but were unlucky until the goal by Goetze. However Germans were far superior in terms of passes and ball possession. The goal chance missed by Gonzalo really hurt them the match. Had the match ended with penalty shootout the result might be different. The verdict : Argentina gave a tough fight to the Germans but Germans finally worked towards winning the match.
Argentina team (with Messi) is like Indian cricket team of 90's heavily dependent on Tendulkar to win the matches. Germany is like Australian cricket team of 90's with full of quality star players (Gilly, Hayden, Ponting, Mc Grath, Shane Warne). So Germany deserves it to win.
