As for 8 Consecutive Finals!!
by Demons on Sep 07, 2012 11:06 AM  | Hide replies

Even nadal has that, without being "DEFEATED",

barring AO 2011, where he was injured, not DEFEATED,

till FO 2012,

he made it to 8 Successions!!

Ball Possessions does'nt matter, "Goals" matter!

By your logic,

Any person can play till 40 years of age,

boast of a 40 * 4 - 160 Grand Slam "APPEARENCE",

without achieving anything in essence!

Do you think "17" is "Highest"!
by Demons on Sep 07, 2012 10:18 AM  | Hide replies

There are people with more than 20 Grand Slam titles to their credit.

John McEnroe has 17 Grand Slam titles!

Pancho Gonzales has 19..

If you consider all time "Grass plus Clay",

Bill Tilden,
Roy Emerson,

everyone will top the list,

above federer!!

ok ..friend..u r now including doubles/Mixed doubles to d list which is "dependent" game/team game..here we are debating on the greatest tennis players..In dat case even Leander Paes can be debated with Fedex to be greater or not ?? .. Also.. Fedex has 33 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 finals..which Mcnroe doesnt boast of. However..dis is not d yardstick o both can be judged

What about the fact that inspite of being 5 years senior,Fedex has only managed to equal Nadal's record of masters titles??That too,Nadal was leading and Fedex equalled it only last month.

What you stated above are not "Titles",

but appearences, which every body knows.

as such form only "Secondary" to Major SURFACE records held!

You can add olympic FINAL APPEARENCE, also to the list!

:-)

Now d real stats --Bring on
by bhunu pro on Sep 07, 2012 09:52 AM  | Hide replies

Care 2 hv a glance at edex record..shich is not just greater than Nadal..but all time greats..

33 consecutive Slam QF

23 consecutive Slam SFs

Grand Slam finals (all except Juan MartDel Potro), an all-time men's record, (1. Philippoussis, 2. Safin, 3. Roddick, 4. Hewitt, 5. Agassi, 6. Baghdatis, 7. Nadal, 8. Gonzalez, 9. Djokovic, 10. Murray, 11. Sling). Sampras has also faced 12 different opponents and defeated 9 of them in Grand Slam finals (all except Edberg, Safin, and Hewitt), (1. Agassi, 2. Courier, 3. Pioline, 4. Martin

all time record of 17 Grand Slams in 10 years, once started winning (2003–12) > Sampras 14 Grand Slams in the span of 13 years (1990–2002).

24 Grand Slam finals > record of 19 by Ivan Lendl.[13]

10 consecutive Grand Slam finals > Jack Crawford in 1934

won 8 of them > DEFATED RECORD 4 OF Laver/Agassi (2000).

Now compare how many diff opponents in Slam finals Nadal had faced vs what Fedex has faced..

Fedex fans might be complacent dat makes Nadal fans to ridicule Federer

-- which is at best living in eutopia..

BTW.. Nadal fans themselevs are comparing Fedex with other all time greats in most of d a comparision ...and nOT NAD-AL
..Bring on more..

The list of Federer's opponents,

you sighted above,

Don't even have a "Doubles Title", on Grass/ Clay court, for over a decade!

As for djokovic, he was a minor, below 21 years of age, like Nadal!

Federer's Record agaist a 21 Year old MAJOR Nadal is

Z.e.r.o!

It does'nt prove his "Greatness"!

Post 2008,I think you were in hibernation bhunu.Or maybe you were following baseball or kabaddi and not tennis.Because in 2008 and 2010,Nadal won 3 slams each.In 2011 he was in 3 slam finals winning 1.And in 2012 he's in 2 of 4 slams, missing one due to injury. So please explain to us mere mortals how Nadal achieved all these without making into SF/Finals.Only you seem to have this divine knowledge or maybe Rajesh shares it too.:):):)

It has always been Fedex out of his prime while Nadal moving towards his prime post-2007..Still fedex was able to hold him in fast hard courts..Outside clay RAFA has won against fedex mostly on slow hard courts .. these statics needs to be dived into deeply..US Open wud have determined some result but dat didnt happen ( am saying this even when fedex now has crossed 30)..If 17 grand slams does not give correct picture ..even 18-7 Rafa HEH against Fedex is NOT true picture ..T time !!
