There are no other inidans who can come near him yet.

with due respect to Anand, mind loses sharpness in old age. chess is a young man's game. look at carlsen and negi they are below twenty.

History repeats itself.. for the fifth time!!
by Jaidev Ashok on May 30, 2012 07:14 PM

Watched all the four games! Gelfand had to lose the second one because of time.. and made a few blunders overall. Fantastic! Keep it up!

True Champ
by Raguraman Muralidharan on May 30, 2012 07:13 PM

Anand was stretched this time which brought the best in him. Mind you Boris gave him a tough fight right through this tournament.

Hope the media gives a good coverage just like cricket....

Really?! Please don't pass comments about people YOU do not know.

Do you know that Sachin is one of the highest tax payers in India ? And through all his money and success he lived a modest lifestyle in the same apartment he was born in? Playing cricket, in any form, is his Job. His opinion is a different matter. He was never greedy, it's just the way YOU see it.

No one disputes Anand is a genius. But he did not live in India. Until recently, he lived in Spain, because of low taxes in Spain. He never paid taxes in India.

Now go back and redo your comparison.

If you dont have the facts, you may like to keep shut.

The reason he lived in Europe is because Europe and Russia are traditionally Chess stronghold. He gets to play with top players and keep improving his skills.

Do you want him to stay in India and play chess with who? Lalu Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav?

I respect Sachin for his achievements and humility. I dont think many cricketers past, present or future can come close to him. I doubt his record of centuries will EVER be broken. I hope not.

That said, I wish Sachin had NOT taken the tax exemption for importing the Ferrari car. That is a BLOT On his otherwise fantastic track record. Especially since Sachin is one of the richest sportspersons in the world.

Dont make ridiculous claims like 'V Anand never paid taxes in India.

Just so you know, individual tax rates in SPAIN (upto 52%) is HIGHER than that in India (upto 30%). Europe is famous for heavy taxation.

Dude, use common sense. Cost of living is so much higher in Europe than INdia. Someone should be a fool to go and live there instead of INdia just to save taxes!

Cost of living in Europe in General and Spain in particular is MUCH higher than even that of the US! Take it from me, I live in the US and travel the world.
