anand is best in his field from our country, just like other sportspersons are best in their fields from our country. putting one sportsperson above another is debatable.

hello , to answer you, first_about_the_trap,_after greedy_gelfand takes the rook_on_h1, you see the queen has only_two_escape_squares_on_g1_and_f3_,_but _anand_plays_Qf2,_with that he_cuts_gelfand's_queen_from_those two_squares, hence the queen is trapped_and_stuck at_h1. now to_exploit the trapped_queen, anand would like to move his_bishop out of the way and let gelfy's_queen be taken.

but black can_untrap the queen by way of his knight , with the move_Nc6. after_Nc6, if white moves his bishop_out(to capture_the queen as explained above) , black has the move_Nd4 giving check, and also covering the_f3_escape_square for the black_queen (as explained above) so after white_king escapes_check, the black_queen can move to escape_square which is NOW protected by the knight's_presence.

But this would be unpleasant for white, so after black plays_Nc6 what happens is white takes the_knight with the_d-pawn_(dxc6) , and then the black queen is untrapped by_Qxc6 , although losing the_knight and having a bad position.

hope you understand now :)

Taking knight is the best move at all times in your analysis, why prolong it to check position when Anand can workout Knight capture in a jiffy.

Its better to analyze the game with different lines in a chess engine that read yours..but nice try Taklu boy. P Leko has commented that Gelfand could have played on but heavy loss of material will surely end his challenge. Same goes with analysis with a chess engine

i was replying to deepak in earlier post. i did not say something contradictory to the loss of a knight and a terrible position. look at my earlier comment when i said it was best for gelfy to resign than to continue playing. post something of your own than to criticize someone who's talking about the subject.

Anand is in a class of his own...

Anand saw 17.Qf2 way back while playing 11.exf5 itself. This guy is not human..he's a chess beast. Kasparov better keep quiet and not make nasty comments. Once you retired, then you have no rights to take about the current people who are playing. Kasparov can be happy that the Anand he played in 1995 was just his shadow. Anand did not know anything about match preparation, openings, etc at that time. Today's Anand is a mean World championship match winning machine.

I think you should also add Leander Paes. He won several thrilling victories for India in Davis Cup
