Nadal vs Rosol
by priyankush ghosh on Jun 29, 2012 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

Lets appreciate the match theis guy playe dyesterday...somebody said in commentary that he has never seen in his 39 yrs of wimbledon watching experience of somebody hitting as consistently as Rosl did yesterday...there have been debates in this forum abt the word crushed...but rafa looked cdrushed at the nets after the match yesterday .. its not the scoreline but the manner in which rosol won ... the sheer perfection and consistency of his hard hitting and serving left nadal nothing to answer...this opens the wimbledon completely...I have always felt that Federer is better against so called minnows or unseeded players and theresx always lesser chance of an upset of federer losing in such an early round of a tournament ....becoz of his all round variety of game...i was just watching madrid masters highlights in tv at the break of italy vs germany yesterday..and got amazed at the variety of federer's play in that tournament when he beat tipsarevic, ferrer and berdych in the final . just grace and silkness and elegance . I also believe with many of u followers in this forum that Fedex will win this yrs Wimbledon because he has looked good this year...In the halle masters as well nadal lost in the quarters to kohlschreiber , whom he would have met had he won yesterday . Federer was runners up in Halle.I think even Djokovic would lose before semis this yr...both rafa and novak have had so much success this yr and looks tired a bit..i think its going to be federer murray final..

did you guys watch the match?

hello Nadal haters. Give Rosol his due. He play was unbelivable with 100mph forehand winners. Nadal's unrelenting defence dragged the match to 5 sets. Any other player, even the great Federer, Djo (respect them too) would have been folded within 3 sets.

Don't belittle greats. Its not our culture. Nadal played 17 grandslam finals.

That means Rosol should win Wimbledon in a cakewalk. If that happens, I will accept you as my guru.

Hello Nadal haters. Watched the match till 3 in the morning. Give Rosol his due. He was unstoppable.. forehand winners at 100mph. It was Nadal who could drag it to 5 sets with unrelenting defence. Murray, Fed or Djo... with all due respects would have been folded up and on their way in 3 sets.

Nadal knocked out in Second Round , IF this is the case then, WHY Blame Sania Mirza after her second round exit.
Agreed, Nadal is slightly ahead of Sania, but the point is - early exit is possible even for great players and so for Mirza.

so, you mean to say, qualifying to grand slams is guaranteed for her??? I would say winning first round in qualifying is big big task for her in any wtp tourny... let alone a match in the main draw.

Nadal only Clay court Specialist
by mithil s on Jun 29, 2012 11:22 AM  | Hide replies

It has been proved time and again that Nadal is only good playing Clay court, but when it come to Grass and Hard court he is no where near to his best.
The Statistics also says that out of 11 Grand Slam title he as won 7 French Open, 2 Wimbledon 1 each US and Australian Open.

This obliterates d greatness of Federer who has qualified for consecutive 22 QFs from 2003 to 2009. Salute to his consistency.

NADAL'S NON-CLAY TITLE DROUGHT CONTINUES
by HUSSAIN MITHANI on Jun 29, 2012 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

since the end of 2010. Its a big upset in the history of tennis and Nadal will have to live with this for the rest of his career. but the seeding of Nadal does not do justice as he has maintained the seedings only based on winning red clay events while failing to win a single non-clay title so the result should not be a surprise as nadal hasn't won anything other than red clay. This seems to be story of Nadal ever since 2005. He has won only four non-clay slams. He has failed as usual on non-clay surfaces. Nadal seems to be getting worse in winning non-clay titles. Some players peak early in their careers and some later and Nadal has peaked early in career and is now on a decline.
The defeat of Nadal has proved one thing, I have been saying all along that H2H does not matter. Any player can beat anyone if their game is ON. and today Nadal was cleary struglling while Rosol rose to the occasion and create an upset that will be talked about for years. This ranks right up there with Boris Becker's second-round loss to Peter Doohan in 1987, and Ivo Karlovic's dismissal of Lleyton Hewitt in 2003. The only difference is Becker and Hewitt were both defending champions when they lost so early while Nadal isn't and has never really defended any slam successfully other than the french open. It all comes down to RED CLAY. NADAL IS A RED CLAY SPECIALIST AND THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

really? you should check the last year ATP World Tour and this year Indian Wells Master event. Nadal got crushed in straight sets by a 30 yr old federer who is past his peak. It speaks volume of the greatness of federer.
