A player can hold country to tenterhooks and leave countrymen to sing loud - it happens only in India...... Why cant we get rid of such an arrogance on personal grounds of few players. What message we are sending out to world if entire federation trying hard to persuade and relent a player. Even if he wins gold (which I doubt he will be near quarters or semis) that wont compensate dents he has made through 'tenterhooks' behaviour now.

Leander has been always childish and acts arrogant with all so its not a surprise that nobody wants to play alongwith him. On top of that he is pushing as his right to select the player of his choice. Which world is he living in! AITA shud ask him to take a hike or play with the player provided.

Why could AITA not do the same to bhupathi and bopanna when the saga began
Re: Leander is not worthy of all attention

The one who have refused to play with him are the ones represented by globosport the company owned by Bhupathi does that make sense to you. every body else wants to play with him.
1) Doubles Tennis is a game where Partners' on-court chemistry, and understanding of each others game is paramount. Individual talents of partners is of lesser significance.
2) By the begining of 2012, Paes broke his partnership with Hesh, so that he can remain in the Top 10 individual doubles ranking, despite knowing 2012 is Olympic year, and a medal is not possible unless he continues his partnership with his countryman. This being the case, I am not sure how AITA and others call Paes as a Patriotic guy ?!
2)After Paes broke up with Hesh, Hesh could have partnered with any of the Top players in the world. But he chose his lesser ranked countryman Bopanna, to build up an Olympic medal worthy partnership for India. Is that not Patriotic ?
3) Paes is highly talented. No Doubt. But that is not enough in doubles. One needs to get along well with his partner, and build a partnership over a long run. He never did that, as he is focused on his individual career and personal glory.
4) AITA was jeopardizing a medal chance at the Olympics by forcing unwilling Hesh and Bopanna to play with Paes. Due to their good on-court chemistry, and longer partbership, Hesh-Bopanna pair has a better chance at a medal, than any unwilling partner playing with Paes.
5) AITA made another blunder by Pairing Paes and Sania for mixed doubles. Didn't they know that Boopathi-Sania won the French Open recently?
6) Why do we need to please Paes, and how does it help the country?

Agreed ! Leander may be the top Indian player in the circuit but it has always been Hesh who has stood by the lesser known Indian players ! leander may be a great player but he has never tried to bring up more players & today he stands alone as nobody is interested in playing with him!
Re: Re: Facts !

Actually the count is zero ! They r yet to win anything as a pair in the Olynpics-closest being the last olympic where they finished 4th !
Why AITA is appeasing Leander Paes to appear in Olympics? I have high regards for Paes because he always held Indian Flag high. Doesnt he have confidence in himself to give good performance? If he doesnt and want to depend on his partner's performance, then its not fair for him to play. I am sure that Paes with his experience can guide and inspire his partner for better performance. I guess its always better to try and lose instead of losing without trying. Jai Hind.
Paes, Bhupathi and Bopanna must be kicked out uncermoniously. They cannot win any medals and why should these old bandicoots given a chance when younger talents are available.

Really? Younger talents are available? Can you name a few, that have gone past the first round in any tour level event? We are taking about winning medals in Olympics dear, not giving oppurtunities for reserved kids in kinder garden.

Another s0uthie speaking...! Only S0uthies speak in favor of Bhupathi, the back-stabber

Ok, now it has come to northie-southie issue? I will look stupid if I explain if your opinion on who is a back-stabber is utterly stupid. So, I will let you learn about the event that led to Boopathi-Paes split.

First the IATA allowed Bhupathi & Bopanna to practice throughout the year and now at the time of the Olympics, that Khanna, the corrupt guy wanted Paes to partner Bhupathi or Bopanna? When they refused, he says you should play in the interest of the nation.

That is the Law Point, Mr.Vikram, that people fail to understand. I don't see any reason in AITA trying to please Paes.

There is a limit to bullshit, u seem to have exceeded that. Paes won our first individual medal, a bronze. That too in singles. He lost just one match and that too against Agassi who was the eventual gold medallist
Re: Re: Selector rushes to Paes
by Unmai Vilambi on Jun 22, 2012 10:13 PM
The extent of ignorance and lack of common sense is appalling. What Srinivasan said is very valid. Paes could have won a bronze. But that is singles. He is talented and nobody doubts that. But here the issue is about doubles, and individual talent alone does not bring medals. A players needs to get along well with others. Paes fails miserably on that count.

Laender paes had won bronze many years back. So he continues to be talented till he reaches 90 years of age. He is the one who has won bronze and will win it every year !!

That Khanna is giving carrot to leander that You will be playing two matches one with Vishnu & another with Sania. So he has more chances of winning medal(bronze) than Bhupathi or Bopanna. Yeah
