AITA
by thomas mathew on Jun 21, 2012 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

The AITA guys should be flogged for making this fiasco. Bhupathy the business man flexed his financial muscles and these backboneless money hungry men bent their back for him to ride. Leander for Indian tennis is much more than Bhupathi and Bopanna put together and had always been compromising but there is something called self respect which he can;t afford to lose which these AITA besterds wated him to . They are ruining Indian Tennis and peol,e who take pride in our achievements in the field . Shame on you guys!!!! And Bopanna , the yesterday's boy who does not have the right to even lick the feet of leander shows his horns when supported by the opportunistic doubles player Bhupathy who has never played a singles game in davis cup for India . Bopanna should be flogged for disrespecting a senior player like Leander when he has never played alongside him, but just repeating what Bhupathy says because he is contracted by Bhupathy's company. This is business ruining sports and AITA aiding it when their duty is to stop such things

Mr, what was Paes doing all last year? Bhupathi asked him to play with him and Paes refused. He instead went and played with only foreign players. Had Bhupathi also done the same, he would have as good a rank as Paes. As for AITA, Paes and his dad Vece Paes have more control there than Bhupathi. You seem to think only Paes has the right to get India a medal. Bhupathi is as good a player as Paes and in addition he teams up better with other players. No ego for Bhupathi. He just cannot tolerate the ego of Paes which is blown sky high with that one medal ages ago and some davis cup wins centuries ago.

Dear Sir sure you are more knowledgable than me but I have to remind you that there is a thing called personal acceptance which is fundamental for any team work. And you cannot force a person to make him accept you. What I gather that this guy paes is not only not acceptable to these two char lies but is at a very low level of acceptance by most of the other players as well. Even Sania
Mirza has reportedly said Bhupathy is my first choice and my first preference as a mixed doubles partner. Please carefully see for yourself before passing any judgement as to who should be flogged. I am sure you will be rolling back your earlier comments.

How can any one forget how many times Leander Paes has won single handedly matches for India? As for Bhupati- he has shined only on doubles matches and initialy he was successful only due to teaming up with Leander. Coming back to present situation how can aplayer has achoice select himself as per his preference4 when there is a selection committee? What is AITA doing? Why are they not taking disciplinery action against Bhupati and Bopanna and playing into their hands? I think there should not be a choice- the team should be selected based on the rankings-Othrwise what are the ranks for?

Foolish on the part of Paes and his fans to expect players who are not seeing eye to eye to be playing together. Its not a cricket team to select. If two players do not gel well, there is no point in playing together. If Mahesh or anyone feels that they do not gel well with Leander then Leander has to respect that fact and backout. There is no logic in having a selection panel chosing someone when they do not find it worthy doing so.

No question of rankings, its a question two players playing as a team. Bopanna left Quereshi to play with Mahesh for the last 7 months, just for the sake of Olympics. Mind you the pair of Bopanna and Quereshi were ranked 8th in the world. What was Leander doing then ? He should have spoken to Mahesh and AITA to put his point accross. Now he and his father are shouting as if they are the only patriots in this country. Shameless fools.

at that time Leander & Mahesh pairing together and at No 5th

Mahesh at 7 play 20 tournaments
Leander at 8 play 16 tournaments
Asiam Quraishi- 10 play 29 tournaments
Bopanna- 11 play 28 tournaments

Leander play all tournaments with Bhupathi but Bhupathi play 4 tournaments with other player to get 100 more ATP points.

Mr.Das, we don't know the full story why Bhupathy & Bopanna are wary of peas. There might be some bitter personal experience.Unless both the partners are comfortable with each other they cannot win any match. It is pointless to force players to play with a partner they don't want to play with. Why can't Paes play with any other player and show his talent? Why is he so adamant? Why can't he help a youngster get some experience in an international game? Was he No.1 or No.2 player when he started his carrier ? Is he showing his patriotism by pulling out of Olympics by not playing with a junior player? It is an insult to the junior players. He should be reprimanded for that.

remember paes paired with mahesh in 2011 to prepare for oly. then dumped him complaining about mahesh's fitness. Later when mahesh and bopanna paired and qualified, he wants one of them. Doubles requires team to practice together well. Not like cricket, which is a team sport just for name sake (an individual can win matches). that too none of 3 have good serve or forehand or backhand like nadal or federer. So it is important to have understanding between each other to succeed.

Ranking matters for singles. In doubles you get ranked when you play as a team. Are we talking of individual ranking or doubles ranking. I hope we are talking about doubles ranking because singles ranking is irrelevant here. Now in doubles you need a partner to play. If he has a rank with a foreign player it is again irrelevant in this context. So what are we really talking about. It's a total mismatch as I can see if his partner does not acknowledge him but wants to play with someone else who also does not want him. So play the best combination and try out. Where's the question of indiscipline etc.keep it simple please :-)

I am also talking about doubles ranking- For your information the players are ranked individualy and not as a pair depending on their performence. As for best team etc concerned as per the law no player can pick and chose as per their choice while representing the country. Tomorrow the relay team will say they would like to have their choice of runners according to who gels with whom- There has to be one set of rule for all. If someone can not abide by it he or she has to face the consequences. No other country will tolerate suchindiscipline.
