Federer does not decide who he faces in the finals and whoever reaches the finals has worked hard and defeated seeded players to get there and then been beaten by Federer........having said that I dont think ppl care about what you think.........time will tell who the gratest ever was but yhere's no denying that Federer is a class apart and has a beautiful game not just muscle power.........Fedrer's tennis is art form..Fed vs Ndal is like beauty vs brawn to say the least

Nadal's downfall has started !!
by rocky on Aug 16, 2012 03:59 AM  | Hide replies

nadal has a unique game.. he will stand well behind the base line, run and fetch however hard the shots maybe. this type of running will suit well in clay courts, where he can slide... then in the hard courts he can't slide and this is where the knees start to feel the pain. nadal now stands to lose 1200 pts from the USopen and should end up at 4th place. federer in his whole career had never complained about any injury, has shown great fitness and has also broken numerous records.. this is what makes a true champion.

Injury is something some players face, some do not. But thatdoes not decide whether a player is great or not. What the person achives will decide. Nadal has achieved 11 GS, which makes him one of the best. Let's see if he can add more to that. Federer and Sampras have achieved more GS and more time as #1. So, obviously Nadal has a few steps to take. I don't like to compare Nadal with Federer as both are great, one is naturally talented and the other fights it hard by playing long rallies. One has Olympic Gold missing and the other has Year-ending masters crown missing. Otherwise there's very little to chose between the two.

Both are champions in their own rights but Nadal has some distance to go before he catches up with Federer. Playing style does matter when it comes to fitness as certain body parts are strained more in say in sliding then in plain running. A very hard server is more likely to hurt his arm then a normal server. Same in all sports as even in cricket pace bowlers are more prone to injury then their spinning colleagues. Nadal is a true champion and will rise above this. May be a slight adjustment in his playing style could help him in maintaining better physical levels. May be he is already working on that.... who knows!!!

It is sad, but not a shame. An old recurring injury has flamed up for Nadal. True, he has impressed with the sheer physicality of his game.

With Nsdal pulling out of USO, he saved himself from losing in the first round this time by another 100 ranking player.
