Yogeshwar Dutt won a bronze and that was indeed a great feat for Indian wrestler! But Yogeshwar won Bronze because courtsey Russian Wrestler to whom he lost in pre-quarter final!and since the Russian wrestler made it to Finals Yogeshwar got chance to play quareter final else he would have been sent back home empty handed. "After losing the pre-quarterfinal bout to Russia's B Kudukhov, the route to the final was firmly shut on the Indian. But luck was on his side on Saturday as the Russian to whom Yogeshwar lost made it to the final and the Indian got a chance to play the repechage round for bronze."

we all know tht whts your point? Courtsey for why??? He fought hard and won bronze why we always degrade our own indians and praise foreigners??? repechage is a tough thing...beating opponents in quick time needs lot of stamina....don't blabber....

Correct one has to be ready to defeat any one to be world champion and to win gold medal. But then, you have done well to win a bronze Yogeshwar !!
He lost to the eventual silver medallist. That means he deserved no more than a 3rd spot (since atleast two wrestlers were better off).. that calls for a bronze only.. no?

Haha, exactly my thoughts. But wrestlers are not known for logic and IQ right? :-) That said, he deserves kudos for the bronze..
It's like saying if I my car had 5 wheels I could have gone faster. Olympics is about competing with the best and only the greatest shine. That said, there is no undermining Yogeshwar's victory, he did great. It's just there were some wrestlers better than him that went on to take the silver and gold.

Well said. This is the attitude I hate in Indian atheletes. Whoever wins starts thinking the whole world is below them. The mens boxing team made a lot of noise about wrong decisions. What if they also went upto quarter finals because points were not given to their opponents. The ladies double team in Badminton also cried fowl. Just accept that you did not reach the next stage because you were unlucky. If there was any match fixing or throwing of match, officials would have thrown those teams out. Same with Mary Kom. Ever since she came back, "I apologize to the nation, I could not win GOLD", I got confused in the semi-final etc. Lady, accept that you were worth Bronze and you got it and now accept it gracefully and move on.

Abhishek's is a rational and well-written mail. Accept the results, you got Bronze because you were worth Bronze, don't blame the draw, the judges or anything else.
i have huge respect for you.... but what you are saying sounds like "I couldnt get the medal as I was asked to COMPETE", well you wont get it for free....

Age - 33. OLD is GOLD. :-)
Who know ? He won't eat or vomit or get dehdrated like last time before Final match. Who knows ? Sushil may get more stronger and more mature and practice harder and the unsatisfied thirst for GOLD and perhaps the thought of another Indian RECORD in Olympics of winning 3 medals in a row could keep him focussed on the job and keep him hungry for GOLD.
Who knows ? If MAN puts his FULL EFFORT and focusses very hard to achieve without any disturbance never once taking eyes of the goal, then the whole universe works to answer the quest of that MAN with the desired result or prize. Who knows ? The opponent may pull out or lose due to some reason (like Saina's opponent gave up in Semifinal).
Anything can happen. You never know. 33 years is not old age. Its perhaps one last attempt at the GOLD medal and if done with sincerity, dedication and absolute willingness to win, Sushil may surely win it.
Yogeshwar ..l. you fought like a lion and with all your passion you played. You desperately wanted that Olympic medal for INDIA and for your collection too. It was evident in the way you celebrated with jumps and somersaults on the ring after winning the bronze. So we are really thankful as a nation to you for your medal. Its a great achievement Sir. You have surely made the dreams of yours and ours come true. We dreamt of a medal in Wrestling after Sushil revived Kashaba Jadhav's performance after long many years at Beijing in the last Olympics in 2008. Every INdian suddenly believed we could also win medal in Wrestling and not just have to look at hockey and keep yearning forever for a podium finish.
You strengthened our belief and gace a filip to WRESTLING. Great achievement after hours and hours of hardwork and the blessings of your parents and coaches and people back home.
Wonderful achievement. Your medal is surely worth its weight in GOLD. After losses of earlier wrestlers Narsing and the Women's wrestler you were the last wrestler to fight person before Sushil entered. Had you not won a medal, Sushil would have been more pressurized as he would then be the very last man on whom entire Wrestling medal hopes would fall on. But in winning your medal you also inspired Sushil to do better than his last time. Sushil would have surely been boosted by your performance and your VICTORY would have inspired him also to win for India. I salute you Yogeshwar. Jai Ho!

Very geniune question. Unless he beat tough opponents, GOLD canno tbe possible. Don't blame draw. Think about your strengths. GOLD can definitely be achieveable.
