That's because the talent and good people are leaving the country. I was from India and now live in the USA.

Sceptic Critic has done the right thing by relocating and living in the USA. India as a country, can never advance or even move forward, in anything and everything and that is a fact.

India must quit all Olympic and Commonwealth Games forever
by Virendra Patel on Aug 11, 2012 07:24 PM  | Hide replies

I urge India to permanently boycott the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, forever. Our sportstars are rubbish and cannot compete and beat the best.

I refuse to encourage them. Please do not tell me what to think. We did reasonably well in the Commonwealth Games two years ago in 2010, because it was hosted here in India and should never have been.

Completely irrelevant post, Om. I am not sure if your brain is working today, but you have to be professionally qualified to teach and groom the next generation of Indian sports stars. I have no family members who are younger than 32 years of age, so you are wasting your time, Om. On the other hand, how abuot you groom young members of your family in any sport, so they can win a medal in a future Olympic Games. Try and grow a brain before you post a comment next time, thank you.

Indians like the useless Virendra Patel (disgrace to Gujarat patriots such as Vallabhai Patel) have negative mind set. In Commonwealth Games, India secured 37 gold medals and 101 medals.

Varadarajan Ravindran, people like you are always entitled to your stupid own opinion. If I want your opinion, I will give it to you. Your comment sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you are saying.

How many medals did India win in the last Asian games then? Why is India always worse than China and Iran?

Chetri's harsh comments
by Edison John on Aug 11, 2012 07:05 PM  | Hide replies

Redifff - Please allow me to shower some " abuses " at Chethri with love and affection. From 1928, we have won so many gold medals in
Olympics. When we won Gold Medals , there were hardly any compliments and everybody took everything for granted. If I remember right, we smashed ( mostly Dhyan Chand ) about 20 0r 30 goals into a hapless U.S. Goalkeeper's Goal post. The referee evden doubted something fishy and took the ball and touched it to Dhyan Chand's hockey stick to see whether there was some magnet attracting and holding the ball into Dhyan Chand's hockey Stick. Does Chethri know our historic and Glorious past. Subsequently the westerners learnt the tricks of the trade in Hockey and they are a formidable force NOW. That doesn't mean that our Hockey team is in any way a worse team. hetri's remark that " the former Champions were not good enough to play at a big stage like the OLYMPICS " is DEFINITELY an UNKIND and DEMORALISING remark. He should know better as a skipper as to how to make remarks or appraise A TEAM'S PERFORMANCE.

Since then the crooked west blackmailed hockey by changing natural grass to astroturf and just before olympic changed the colour of the turf from green to blue. The white ball got lost between blue turf and our blue jersy.

In today's astroturf hockey, the skill and magic of Dhyanchand is not required..just run and hammer..speed and hit..thats all.

In this situation,India's performance will be same as in football. We are not fit enough to play fast games...

Chetri is absolutely right in his comments. From 1928 to 1936 India was under British rule when they won the Olympic gold. After that they won four more times in reality, because India was not as corrupt as it became later. The win in Moscow should not be counted, because all the great hockey playing countries boycotted it.
Now that India is the second most corrupt nation in the world, it sends only the worst players. So Chetri is correct.
Even in corruption, India is only second, Nigeria being first!!!!

I have read the comments of Om Shanti, Clive UK, Sceptic Critic, & Kumar sm
I do not understand why Clive says that Om shanti's patriotism is hair raising !! Sceptic Critic - what is the relevance of corruption in this ??? Kumar sm has made another " funny " remark on Om Shanti's remarks. I think that the discussion board remarks are in pretty the same bad state as our hockey. Maybe Chethri was being very frank in his comments, although he should not have publicly said so.

India's corruption is extremely relevant. I'm surprised that you cannot understand it. It is only because of corruption, good players from South India are excluded.

by Sceptic Critic on Aug 11, 2012 06:46 PM

Chetri, you performed well as the goalkeeper. But for you the Indian team would have lost by a much wider margin.
I'm glad that you have realized that the Indian team is not worthy to compete in any world title games.
I feel sorry for you that you had to captain a bunch of idiotic players.

Midfield good - Striking poor
by chacko v on Aug 11, 2012 06:21 PM

Our midfield performed well in all the matches but we had very poor striking "or" lacked ideas inside the "D". Most of the countries who played us forced penalty corners & then beat us.

fitness is very important

until they choose the talent from young age and look after them, give them security and all amenities, indian players will always lack fitness and have their tongues come out like dogs after half time.
