Carl Lewis scores a self goal

It is very ironic that the man Carl Lewis, himself is strongly suspected of taking drugs in the 80s, when it was "standard" for top teams having very sophisticated drug programs. Flojo, Randy Barnes were known drug takers, to catch up with the all conquering East Germans in the 80s.

80s were also the period where as he is alluding to in interview, "random drug testing" was not prevalent. Also lots of drugs were undetectable at the time.

One has to appreciate the fact that West Indians were all natural athletes. Earlier they migrated to US to have better chance at winning, now they are doing on their own countries resources (how Bolt was offered a sports scholarship in US and he declined it).

Guessing from press reaction, it seems that except Americans, none care too much for Bolts comment. Carl Lewis had his share of wins and controversies, but he was never as popular or marketable as Bolt.

Well said Sir. Why Flo Jo retired immediately after setting world records in the 100m and 200m as she was very young at that time? Carl Lewis might have been a great athlete but he was nowhere as spectacular and crowd puller like Bolt. Lewis is making these statements as if Bolt is setting world records at a club level, where there is no proper drug testing. Bolt has performed over a period of 8 yrs at the international circuit and he would have been doping then why he has not been caught for more than 8 yrs?

He predicted correctly for Ben the cheat after he ran 9.5 seconds world record race. The way these Jamaicans are running certainly stretch the human imaginations beyond senses & raises concern about doping.Karl is not an ordinary champion who could be ignored by world body & WADA needs to up the ante against Jamaicans

dude, johnson was not faster than lewis in one day, he was beaten by lewis earlier olmpics, where johnson won bronze, but he steadily improved, but lewis didn't say anything, but once he started losing to him, he started all sort of excuses, and finally the drugs one......the americans cheated to make lewis's better image in public. Go check out the facts.

Lewis has shown convincingly that Americans are sore and bad losers. Lewis' statement smacks of jealousy.

Carl Lewis was never a great sportsman despite his achievements. This current accusation by him against Jamaicans as well as by the American swimming Coach on the Chinese swimmers reeks of plain jealousy and sour grapes. Yes, what about Florence Griffith Joyner? She died premature because of drugs and her World record still stands

Mr Tandra you are Aboslutely right.I remember Florence Griffith Joyner's premature retirement from sports after creating records. It is sure that Florence Griffith Joyner was failed in drug test. She was saved only because she is a sportswomen from USA.

Carl Lewis also used drugs but he was not caught because he is from USA. The Canadian sprinter Jhonson was caught because he beat Car Lewis. The entire IOC is partial towards US and nothing can be done about it.

should have been more careful with words, he hurt the feelings of BOLT with his unnecessary remarks..Jamaicans have traditionally produced better atheletics without the help of any drugs, they are natural athelitcs.
