She deserves it
by Sathya on Aug 06, 2012 02:14 PM

I'm sure many people who commented here haven't watched her much before. Saina's usually plays long rallies and makes the opponent tired and wins 2nd and 3rd set even if she loses the first one. For the bronze medal match, the chinese player stressed her too much in the first set becoz of which she was unable to continue. Saina would have won the 2nd and 3rd set if they had played.

first of all a player should be pysically fit to play the game. This is the the basic point.the chineese player not able to play for the full duration.so there is no controversy to declare the chineese player as the looser .our saina declared won as per the rules and regulations of the event ,she deserved more than 100% for the medal.please... dont critisise her

mr.venki! you cant say like that. if u take the first set chinese have won.And also she was playing vigorously at saina with whom saina could not able to match her shot.
Secondly,During the First set chineae woman was leading with a hugw morgin somewhere around 17-8,she would have won quiet easily with the first set,but due to hewr ankle injury only mad saina came closer to her score in which china won with 21-18.

Mr.Sudhakar .i agree with you ,but my point is saina is deserved the madal because chineese girl not fit enough to play the entire game .the finess is a basic creteria than perforamnce and skill. Also from a middle class family ,her parents and herself sacrificed and struggled alone a lot on training till the first suceess without knowing her future in sports in india.
We indians ,pl let us encourage her for what she acheived that you and me not acheived for our country. For Mr.Orient Mystique the half empty pots can only comment in rediff forum and only the full pot have the will to take a challenging carrier in life and play in olymbic for their country

Poor Usain Bolt does not get this kind of adulation from media (though he may be richer because of endorsements and ads) after being world champion and olympic gold medalist many times over.

Not for nothing that in India we say that half empty water pots make much noise.

Saina has beaten the bronze loser as well as the gold medal winner very recently. I have watched both mathes and are available on youtube if you wish to view them. Please do so and then omment. Saina is not shooting off her mouth. It is deplorable that instead of encouraging her we Indians are doing what we are best at. Pulling her down. The fact is only women player in the world circuit capable of defeating the chinee is Saina and it is a fact. Her record speaks of itself

Saina indeed played very well. Otherwise she would not have reached the Semi final stage. Spare a thought for her and do not criticize. For so many years, India is playing Badminton and could not even reach the quarter final stage. Saina, you deserve all the kudos for the courage and conviction. We want you to reach new heights in years to come. This will definitely open the door for some of the youngsters to imbibe her and challenge Chinese dominance.

While we all admire Saina for her dedication and efforts, she is going way overboard in her interviews about the bronze medal which she got accidentally.

Because India is a democratic country and people are free to do whatever they want and most of the people are not disciplined and civilized and people here are not sports freaks they just see cricket and nothing beyond that....corrupt ministers take all the money and the sports officials are not able to spend enough on sportsperson's training and are not able to get good equipments for them....poverty is their and people who are poor cant come into sports even though they are talented...see its simple instead of talking illogically you should try your hand in sports and if you lose take this oath to cut of your head so we all indians can kick it and become experts in football..what say

I partly agree with you

but look at like this - India doesnt have sporting culture. Its little better in villages whwere children play for at least two hours on a ground.
The country seriuosly lacks sporting infrastructure and sport motivation....

anyway to put things in perspective - Indian didnt win any indvidual medal between 1952 to 1992, we started winning from 1996 and looks like we'll return with max no. of medals this time....its a long way to go but things are improving.
