Shooting medals

India was always good in 'shooting'.
You can see the result. 1.25 billion people!! 1/6th of world population.
2 medals in shooting and nothing else.

India is not a rich country for people to dedicate their children to sports. More than 70% of the population fights to survive on day basis. And rest others are busy trying to make more and more wealth. With this situation and quality of life, It's not easy to get those thoughts of getting medal for the country. If you are so keen, motivate your kids to get a medal for India.

And the irony is you don't have the single word of appreciation for this guy (one in billion).

u both were partially correct. Rich or poor doesnt make u as a winner.. to win a competition u need to handle pressure at any time, nd zeal to perform against all odds.

What would you say world's no1 archery who is an Indian failed even in first round?

Where u both were partially correct. Rich or poor doesnt make u as a winner.. to win a competition u need to handle pressure at any time, nd zeal to perform against all odds.

What would you say world's no1 archery who is an Indian failed even in first round? Where as Saina, current world no5 (seeded 4 in Olympics) never beat world no1 against whom she lost Semi final, in her entire career with 6 losses in a row. Thats the diff between world no1 from other countries, and world no1 from our country.

and about poor or rich : the biggest example is North Korea, a country 60% population do not ve two time food, millions of died in starvation.. look at their performance..sitting in top 8 with 4 GOLD medals.. country like Euthopia(one of the poorest country in the world) sitting with one gold in thier kit.

Good discussion!

I agree with all of you.But to add another angle to it is our culture. We as a society or Nation are so coward or with lack of self respect irrespective of our economic status that it sets defeate in our mind since childhood. We have been of slaver's mindset which make us perform poor not only in sports but in all global competitions in other fields. We see individual performances but they are accidents & not products of the process.
