what do you expect if they lost game like this,
United Arab Emirates-India, 5-0
India-Kuwait, 1-9
Iraq-India, 2-0
India-Yemen, 3-6
Considering the size of population, India might be the weakest nation in the world in terms of sports.

Let us be encouraging
by Yakoub Khan on Jan 11, 2011 01:45 PM

Ladies and Gentlemen,
If a child is poor in studies, should his/her education be discontinued? Similarly, this tournament should be viewed as a part of our team's education process. The other part involves building infrastructure and the spirit behind this would be public encouragement, this is where we come into the picture. Please, I appeal to all Indians to give this a thought.
Remember, sport improves and indeed reflects, the character of an individual, a team and a society/country. For example, the German team displays the country's values of efficiency and organisation.

don't get carried away by this.

india have done well to stop the score line reaching double digits.but they should improve their game against korea and bahrain.if they played well they will not lose by more than three goals each.
if we want indian team to play in a world cup atleast in next 15-20 years, support them and give them better facilities to practice.bob houghton may not be right man to coach indian football team but what he said is right that instead of spending lakhs on odafe, yukubu etc money should be invested in improving infrastructure.
salt lake stadium seats 120,000 people, more than camp nou or wembley or old trafford but if comparison is done on field conditions, seating area, press boxes it is the worst of the lot.

Best of luck for the coming matches

Though India failed, Its pardonable, since we ve qualified to play for this cup for the first time in 24 years.
Regarding the match, India played well but the difference in Class was seen. Forwards were not able to go through the mighty Australians. But if we play at this level for long time, the standards of players shall raise by themselves. My sugession to all is to don't expect too much this time since its the first time we are playing at this level in 24 years.

indians need to improve in physique. what I can tell indians is to tour african countries and play soccer with their teams. it might be cheap way.
(you cant do euro tours easily as due to hectic schedules and expenses)
play with africans..they are as well built as euros etc.
for physical conditioning they need a Brazilian trainer.
grounds also need to improve.
soccer is an ideal game for indian conditions ,so we should take it up more.
the promotions of domestic league needs to be lifted by many notches

Completely agrees. I watched the match and the first thing they need to do is to get in better shape. Soccer is not so suited here because of the heat, but that is no excuse since the hotter Arab nations play better than us.

it is not physique so much than strategy and team spirit for which one should have a good experienced coach

Build infrastructure and then speak....
by Jaajvel EP on Jan 11, 2011 07:22 AM

Indian players have done good in the match I would say, eventhough the difference in quality stood out. India do not have a single football stadium of international quality anywhere. Then how do u expect India to perform? Go into the Gulf countries, there are international stadiums everywhere. You have to give infrastructure and good coaching to our kids at early age. If that is done, everything will fall in place.

Physcial stature a worry
by premjit mishra on Jan 11, 2011 03:43 AM  | Hide replies

I too watched the match.I think India played well, but they lacked the physical strength.Chetri hardly got a touch and was always dwarfed by the defender.
We need to get bigger and stronger players. We will do will at Asian level(teams below 100),but will alway struggle.
Also I found that the Indians did not attack the ball which gave more time for Australia to pass and score goals.
Best of luck for next match

if baichung, mahesh gawli n samir naik played things wud have been much better. Houghton needs to find rep
acements for rafi, pradeep, climax n surkumar who are below par. Indians did play well in the second half n coneded jus one goal.if chetri shud ve scored tht golden opportunity it wud have been a great motivation for the coming matches!

All the GCC teams lost their matches
1.Qatar lost to Uzbek's 0-2.
2.Kuwait lost to China 0-2.
3.KSA lost to Syria 1-2.
4.Bahrain lost to S Kor 1-2.
tomorrow UAE will lose to DPRK.
I think now Ex-pats will have to play football for GCC team, its none of their business.
