All the GCC teams lost their matches
1.Qatar lost to Uzbek's 0-2.
2.Kuwait lost to China 0-2.
3.KSA lost to Syria 1-2.
4.Bahrain lost to S Kor 1-2.
tomorrow UAE will lose to DPRK.
I think now Ex-pats will have to play football for GCC team, its none of their business.

Did you give any contribution to the football development in India? They are self learned footballers, noone to blame except our administrators of football.

Any EPL team can beat india

Angrez have EPL for soccer, any problems of burnout there.
"
Diego Maradona said on Sunday he will fly to London next month to study an offer from an English Premier League club, Argentine media reported.
"

so india have quite a way to build their own league for soccer, rugby/NFL and basketball.

ummm... league? one more? Do you know that there is already a pro league in India and people who love football does have their fav teams playing in it?

We don't need to BUILD a league. We need to support one that we already have.

C'mon people. This isn't right. Playing there after 27 years is itself an achievement. Losing to the No. 1 team in Asia is no shame. Praise our team for not being ultra-defensive and for trying to attack.
The commentators also reflected on our pathetic infra and inadequate public interest.
Forget the results & keep praying.
India Forever!

I am not sure how this team qualified - they have not improved their game. Unless we improve it will take another 20 years to appear again.

Sir,
If a child is poor in studies should his education be discontinued? Similarly, this tournament should be viewed as a part of our team's education process. The other part involves building infrastructure and the spirit behind this would be public encouragement, this is where we come into the picture. Please, I appeal to all patriots to give this a thought.

You are right. Indian players need encouragement not bricks. They must take it as a first step in the ladder.

played to their potential. Commentators were pouring praise over the Indians but the fact is whoever follow the club football in India would say that the Indians were very much off color in this match. Apart from Subrata Paul (who did his usual brilliant job) none of the players played like a national player. It has become fashionable in the media to shower praise on any Indian representation (excluding cricket ofcourse) irrespective of whatever it has achieved. This is not true support. We are not talking about rugby that we will call it a spirited effort even if we just gathered the courage to face Australia. This game is football and India has been playing it since its invention and we can certainly play a lot better than what we did today. The level of football in ILeague is better than this

A Country without a good football stadium cannot cope with players playing in good stadiums and tough players tuned to the rough tackling. Indian players should be given encouragement.

Boss...We shower Indian players when they play cricket, but the fact is that India has only to play with nearly 10 countries only to get to the top. In football there are more than 175 countries. Most of them with developed infrastructure and administrative setup for deveopment of football.Howmany primary schools in India has got football teams? How may towns has got football league? Give them a chance to survive.

What have we given them for progressing? pothole filled maidans? or plays against substandard teams? Google for viewing the infrastructure facilities available in England,Portugal,Spain,Germany, Gulf countries. You will know why we lag. Only politics will not do, ask the administrators to do something for budding talents.

Mind game
by Joy Abraham on Jan 10, 2011 11:34 PM  | Hide replies

I watched this match. The Indian players were not lacking in skill or technique. But the several individual players had no confidence. They were afraid that if they keep the ball, an australian player will confront them and go away with the ball. So our players were in a hurry to get rid of the ball as soon as they received it...hitting it to someone and ending up with australians. Our coach should instill this confidence in such mentally weak players. The coach should tell them "no problem if you lose the ball, but try to keep control of the ball, dribble forward and pass it to fellow player, instead of passing the ball as soon as you get it". One mistake in technique was that Indian players tried amny aerial passes against tall opponebts.

I agree with you. Our players first lost in their minds, and then lost the match.
I am from Darjeeling and as far as football is concerned it (together with sikkim and NE) is one of the most active regions in India. And we definitely have better players at village level tournaments than some of the 'afraid' defenders representing the nation...I am sorry for the team India who missed the services of other (besides Bhaichung) great players from darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim...equally heart-breaking though is to see some of the gifted talents missing the spotlight...
