I agree paes is a great player, but comparing with tendulkar is nonsense, had he been federer or something than you may compare after all he is just a doubles player in a sport whihc is too individual a sport.

It is not a crap article. In fact, he has won Junior Wimbledon / Olympics bronze and lot of davis cup matches all in singles

How can you compare Federer with Sachin... Federer is playing one the most popular game and Sachin plays cricket,.. a game hardly played by 7-8 countries.
On otherhand Paes has achieved more than Sachin. He got a Bronze in Olympic and Junior Wimbeldon title as individual along with numerous doubles achievements. What did Sachin achieve. Not even a single world cup also, and in that to a game played by handful of teams..

Martina N and McEnroe were top players who competed both doubles as well as singles and won a bunch of tournaments. In these days everybody specializes in a particular field. Paes chose to specialize in doubles. And did a great job there. Paes is a pretty good singles player who is star performer in Davis Cup. Besides he has an Olympic Bronze medal in singles. So, ZIP it!

@human value, if someone wants to specializing in shoe polishing(which btw is more difficult than playing doubles) i dont have a problem. but all i am trying to tell you folks is that there are better fields of "specialization" Got it! if yes then zip it!

Before branding others a Jocker, just look inside see what is your achievement. You will find yourself the biggest JOCKER..
You have a real hero all through..an example of sheer passion, dedication and spirit of nationalism..go leander go the coutry is as proud as anyone in the ranks of sachin, vishy, sushil, saina and abhinav...
Tendulkar played for India most of his career. Paes played for himself for half of his career by joining with foreign players. But, I am not undermine Paes achievement. Both are genius. The reason for celebrating Sachin is mainly because of his passion for India than mumbai or clubs. Otherthan this, they have similarity in many factors such as simplicity, decent life style and integretity to the game they played. Paes deserved a pat for this. Both are great and fantastic human being.

I slightly disagree, Paes played tennis the way it is played. He has brought great accolades to cricket crazy nation. He has been India's ace for Davis cup for 20 years. I remember some lesser talents who refused to play Davis cup. Cricket is a team game, there's no way you can go anywhere and start representing yourself. Tendulkar is a legend and so does is Leander, no two thoughts about it :)

I will not undermine Paes's acheivement but please compare the two in context. Tendulkar has played against bests of cricket and has participated in toughest of competition in cricket and brought glory. Where as, in tennis, after winning under-18 tennis gold in olmpics Paes hasn't fought with bests of tennis. For me Sachin's acheivements are of best in any standard while Paes's is best only in India or may be Asian context. Apology, if I hurt any one sentiment.

Simply you cannot compare cricket and tennis... Tennis is one of the most favourate sport in the world and depends on individual performance. Cricket is on other hand played by 7-8 countries only and it is team game. If a player is not performing, remaing team will pull him up. Sachin may be great, but he played against handful of jockers. But Paes has played his game against some tough players arround the world.

Please don't fight for who is best. Here the article is trying to say that Paes is like India's Sachin in Tennis. The article tries to bring some common things between Sachin and Paes like year of birth,International career started almost at the same age, getting better with age(Paes winning more titles of late and Sachin scoring 200 in odi). Paes has done well whenever he has played for the Country(Davis cup, Olympics). Both feel proud to represent their country. So cheers to both of them.

ha ha ha.. in leander's case, he can never compete in single's. and he never came to any finals in singles, dont talk about doubles..

How many singles Sachin has played ?? When ever he played he required support from remaining 10 fellows...:)
There are 11 players in the team - everybody has to contribute. When you expect ONE player to win you a tournament - YOUR team does not DESERVE to WIN! So stop complaining that Sachin has not won the World cup. How could he when Azhar and Jadeja were throwing games and match fixing

Cricket is a game of the team. He carried the hopes of a billioin population and came out successful. Most importantly with no "stains" in the 20 year career which speaks volumes. I dont think we are even qualified to comment about such stars who are born once in a millenium, take all the pressure in a crazy country like India and still perform. Hats off to the master and Leander, and ofcourse am not delimiting the achievement of Sushil. Any win for the country should make the citizens proud....and am proud to see Sushil doing that....

yes he has played for the country. wen CWG London was organised SRT denied to play for the Indian team, because he has to stay there with the other athelete, and it was not the five star hotel. Now a days available for the IPL & CLT20 but not for the Sri Lankan team. Avialable for all the endorsement but could not present in Indian team for the ODIs. Now u decide wat he is doing??????????
