puneikar supporting puneikar

It is an extraordinary disappointment to see people of pune supporting kalmadi. is it just because he is from pune. Very sad. Tomorrow when congress and kalmadi sells pune to china let us see what their reactions are. Ofcourse nothing much and they will happily become slaves of china. This is the fate of india

really a pain to see even some people supporting Kalmadi.... indeed his head should be chopped for the kind of disgrace he brought to the country. I cant able to talk abot CWG with my foreign colleagues... and now people forget everything and start to praise him as they were praising lalit modi

If MS Gill was not interested in getting the stadiums ready on time,

If Sheila Dixit, DDA, MCD, Delhi PWD, etc. could not do a good job,

we need to chop someone else's head ?

RRReally a pain to see messages like this.

And we call ourselves "educated" ???

"The Games will act as a podium for India to host the Olympics"

Lord forbid!

If the government and the people of India have so much money lying around to throw, why not use some of it to eradicate poverty, educate the masses, improve health and hygiene, provide electricity to every village, modernize the armed forces, pave roads, provide clean drinking water to all, etc etc? Then, yes, we can host the Olympics.

Just await the result of the audit! I am sure something tangible is going to be out! Suresh Kalmadi should resign even before the audit results are out for he knows what sins he has committed.

Kalmadi is one person who knows how to get things done in bad situations,if you see the commonwealth games and situation around the infrastructure various govt agencies and pvt contractors were handeling that part, its not wise to blame only one person here. Kalmadi worked hard to get the games organised and outcome of the games are infornt of us. Curruption is everywhere and its system and old aged babus sitting at office are equally to be blamed for this. Hope the investigation will punish some people..

One more point to be added here. Whole world is envy of india and its progress and they hate indian people due to job losses etc..Indian media should have handled this very carefully and helped making game more success...western media is only interested in bad part of india and even given oscar to the movie where bad part of india was shown..thats what they are interested and national pride and unity in indian public will change all this non sense...

Whole world is envious of India and its progress? Wake up, man, nobody is envious of India. Once India improves its basic infrastructure and eliminates poverty and illiteracy to match its economic leaps, then, yes, the world will take notice. As for hating Indians for job losses, that has little to do with the progress of India and more to do with how enterprising and hardworking Indians are! Every country has strong reactions to immigrants; don't we react strongly to Bangladeshis? And these noises will stop once American economy is back on track; after all, noises are made only when the stomach is empty.

The world will never take India seriously till India becomes a developed country...and that will happen not by organizing games, but by improving basic infrastructure. Till the time we continue to provide foreign visitors with sights of collapsed bridges, broken roads, poor families living in ghettos and beggars on the crossings, nobody will feel even remotely envious of us.

I can say based on the things i saw in the news, people talking about shiela dixit as dick shit, racial attacks abroad, so many issues. Agree that we need to do better in terms of infrastructure and things will only change when young guys replaces old babus and old politicians gets kicked off from the politics..unfortunately System wont change in one day ... Smart educated indian people are threat to the western way of living and they will try their best to pull us down..india needs to grow up and hope one day we will be really going to be called as Incredible india.!

That was a racial attack, and Australians hold the PhD in those. I don't think they can help it, as they are the descendants of European criminals and unwanted elements who had been forcefully settled in Australia.

The thing is, we Indians, with our stress on education and ambition to make a good life, are making our presence known all over the world. People hate that, but they can't take it away from us because they don't work that hard themselves. So they hate us some more. But that is rather an individual achievement. We as a country need to go far to become a force to be reckoned with. But yes, the System gets in the way.

Roopal, although i don't feel the need to justify how much progress we have made over the 50 years just to satisfy your bloated ego (Bangladesh was a ridiculous example..you made me laugh for obvious reasons anyway, you sitting down there in the US yourself)...i will still agree with you that we ought to have given a much much better show to the outside world. We were just not prepared! Lets not even talk about the american economy right now as the other countries are catching up fast! Europe is a good example i must say..food for thought!

Yes, we have made tremendous progress in the past 50 years. But we should also see what others have managed to achieve in the same duration. Resting on laurels never made anyone great. Bangladesh is a ridiculous example...probably, but that is exactly how many americans, out of sheer ignorance, of course, view India. Poor, illiterate Bangladeshis take manual labor jobs away from our poor, illiterate population, don't they? And they change the demography of the area where they are in large numbers. Change the adjectives a bit, and you have India and US, different and yet similar.

No, I don't have a bloated ego, because I may be living in US but I'm an Indian first and foremost. But I'm also realistic. And I think organizing games and wasting billions of rupees when half the population goes hungry and kids don't get basic facilities is criminal, and does nothing for the country's reputation. Even if it makes for some good publicity, it does not change the reality. Its like spending a billion on advertising a mindless movie that lacks everything. That money should've gone to sectors that really need it. And thats why nobody is envious of India.

Kalmadi has done it
by Gajendra Medhi on Oct 19, 2010 07:42 PM

Kalmadi has shown an spectecular events to the world and has given some pride to indians. He has made an world class event in much lower costs than Beizing Olympic. I come to know that London Olympic game cost will be more than three times that of delhi commonwealth game. They are trying to learn from delhi how with less cost an world class event can be organized.

Kalmadi proved all his detractors wrong
by george thomas on Oct 19, 2010 07:20 PM

Kalmadi proved all his detractors wrong ..

That's the problem he is facing now.

MS Gill and Sheila Dikshit are hiding behind him.

They could not get the stadiums and infrastructure ready in time to hand over to the CWG OC. And the major corruption is in their hands.

Who told him to prove anything??

but the blame lies on high command. Who told them to get a fighter pilot elected to parliament??

Why high command diverted from standard practice of taking only scoundrels in politics??

I wish and pray that High command learns from this grave mistake and will never take fighter pilots in party, they are most patriotic people.
